Hey everyone,

I'm a full-time MSNL player, but every once in a while my programming roots show through and I throw together a project for fun.

My latest is triplechain. So far I've only told a few friends about it, but I think it's solid enough now to release to a wider audience. After you figure out the rules games only take 2-3 minutes, so it's pretty easy to sneak a few in when you have some downtime.

People seem to be enjoying it and coming back for more, so hopefully a few of you get some fun out of it. I'm also working on a multi-player mode, but that will only be fun if there's a little more traffic.

Enjoy!
Zac

Post instructions somewhere, or people who are not your friends will probably not try it.

I gave it about 45 seconds, got to "round 2" and got some chain bonus, but red-x'd it pretty quickly because I had no clue wtf I was doing.

Edit: nm they're on the top of the page.

Nice work on getting 20k so fast, usually takes people a while.

And thanks for letting me know about the bug - there are still a few rough edges for sure. I'm looking at it right now.

I like the challenge idee. I tried to sign up to play a challenge but the site appears to have gone down.

Yeah the game keeps freezing up on me...

Yep, the last couple hours have been the most traffic it's seen. Looks like it struggled a bit, but it's back up (for now at least). Hopefully I'll figure why and get it fixed tonight.

Thanks for playing, appreciate the feedback.

Still down for me. Damnit just as I get hooked.

It's pretty rare, but sometimes it can get hosed in a way that only a browser restart will fix.

Definitely a pain and I'm working to close all of the little holes that let it get messed up like that, but that may work for you.

I really like it, but there is a lot of luck involved. There's always at least once a game where I realize if i don't get two 6s or 5s on the next round, I might as well start over.

Nice work on the high score!

You're absolutely right that there's a bunch of luck in getting the high score. Most of the game modes I'm planning on adding will have a much higher skill/luck ratio, but I like that people have the chance to put up the occasional big score before they understand all the nuances. That said, no one's getting 30k+ unless they have a pretty good idea of how to play.

I'm pretty sure that given the same dice sequence a good player will beat an inexperienced player the vast majority of the time.

I like the challenges because everyone else who plays them gets the same numbers so it eliminates the luck. Maybe keep a tally of who has won how many challenges too.

An improvement I thought of was perhaps showing the player what numbers will be appearing in the next round, so you can plan ahead. Quite often I start constructing a chain only to find the next round I get a load of 1's or numbers I don't need. Maybe it could be a button to click on to show them so new players don't get overwhelmed by all the numbers on display.

Seems cool but needs better graphics and rpg elements. Like you should let us level up our numbers and equip them with different item sets. Also add a team death match mode.

If you click on someone's name you can see their challenge wins (just above their top games list). To see your own details you can always click your name in the "You are playing as hammer_time" section of the header.

I've thought about this too. You're right that new players will probably get overwhelmed if I add too much though, so this may only go in the "advanced" mode of the game (when I add it).

Not sure how serious you are, but I designed the game with a framework like that in mind. I won't be doing any work on it until the basic game has a strong user base and at least one simple multi-player mode working, but if you (or anyone) has suggestions for future improvements, let me know.

Chocula is right. There's a certain flare the game is missing.

I think I'd play more if you jazzed it up a little. Maybe something like this:

THIS!!

it's so frusterating when you have everything going perfect then you get a bunch of 1's and 2's or the 3/4/5/6 that ur not using in ur next slot which ruins everything!

Yea I think it should be like you can see 4 numbers at a time and everytime you pick one up a new one appears once that one is placed....you can plan a little more....
