Didn't like part one, but that had to do with so many Japanese pop references that flew over my head. Old dude doing the "impersonations" killed it though.

Playing the dog game for their dinner slayed me though. Hamada is so bad.

*might* be of interest to Gaki fans:

1. A short film in English by Matsumoto called Sasuke.

2. A behind the scenes documentary piece about Sasuke, subbed.

I'm sort of in the middle of watching both of them and the second is more interesting to me so far.

EDIT: I guess that the second part of #2 is actually the film itself, so you don't even have to bother with #1.

We've got official confirmation of this year's batsu game.

The 24-Hour No Laughing at the Airport game will air in Japan on New Year's Eve from 6:30pm to 12:30pm.

I'm sure a translation team is being put together, though shibatabread has rarely subbed Downtown videos since last year's 24-hour batsu game.

Here's a rough translation of a news story.

Quote:
Defeat Kohaku! “Gakitsuka” goes with CA this year~

Daily Sport Nov 18 Fri 7:32AM

Nihon TV・Yomiuri’s popular variety show “Downtown No Gaki No Tsukai Ya Arahende!!” special project “Waratte Wa Ikenai” series will be broadcasted
on new year’s eve for 6 years in a row, it’s been known on the 17th.

Situation for this year is “Zettai Ni Waratte Wa Ikenai Airport 24 hours!”. Members will be in roles of newbie cabin attendants. From 6:30 PM to 12:30AM, their 6 hours long new year’s eve broadcast will give the whole nation laughter.

“Waratte Wa Ikenai” series will have been coloring new year’s eve for 6 years in a row. Having experienced to be police, journalists, spies and so on in the past, the five members of Downtown, Yamasaki Hosei(43) and Cocorico will transform themselves into cabin attendants on the stage of “Airport”.this time.

The setting is that the 5 will be newbie cabin attendants at “Gasu Kurobikari Airline System (GAS)” , challenging “Owarai traps” scattered around the check-in counter, security check or training center.

The shooting was held under full cooperation with Ibaraki Airport (Ibaraki Prefecture, Omitama city). The airport opened on Mar 11th last year, which is the very same day that the Great East Japan Earthquake hit this year. The staff related to the project started shooting with their wish for owarai to provide psychological support to victims. Over 400 staffs were called out and approx 200 CCD cameras were used.

Conducted with the phrase “○○ out ~” , the painful punishment to a member who laughed is still alive. Matsumoto Hitoshi(48), who has gotten the most punishments for 4 years in a row until last year, recalls the tremendous 24 hours, saying “It was hard enough again this year.”

Here are some warm-up videos with only three days remaining until the show airs in Japan.

These three are from their previous show, Downtown no Gottsu Ee Kanji (Downtown's Feelin' Real Good)

Team Fight Dodge Ball
If you've ever seen (or even heard of) a better game of dodge ball than this, I envy you.

Team Fight Boulder Stopping
A game in which boulders are rolled at people sounds like healthy fun.

N.B.A.
If you make a basketball shot, you win a request. If you miss, you're in trouble.

These are from Gaki no Tsukai. It's the low-key Kiki series which has become one of my favorites.

Kiki Mayonnaise, part 1
Part 2

Kiki Yakiniku no Tare, part 1
Part 2

Silent Libary
This is over one hour in length. It should include all the episodes of Silent Libary.

It seems like there's more subbed Downtown stuff on youtube now than a year ago. This one was humorous.

I checked youtube today and found this 9 minute subbed clip from this years batsu game. It's very funny for gaki fans if you can't wait for the subbed ones to come out in order.

Part 1 of the new No Laughing game is now available. It's thirty minutes long.

The new subbing team is hosting the videos on non-YouTube sites to ensure they don't get deleted. If YouTube links become available in the future, I'll add them.

The shutdown of Megaupload is impacting this subbing project.

It looks like Videobb and Videozer will no longer be usable.

Here's a message from 'Zurui', the guy leading the subbing team.

Quote:
As you may all be aware, with the shut down of Megaupload, filehosting companies are protecting themselves by deleting content, restricting the uploads of any new files and even restricting the downloading of files from anyone within the U.S.A.

We have been primarily using Fileserve, Uploadstation, Videozer and Videobb. Unfortunately, these sites are all owned by the same company and our files are slowly being deleted. Until we can find alternatives we only have the files on these sites available for you.

For those that still haven't downloaded what they want, I would suggest doing so before the files are deleted or my accounts are suspended.

Another problem which has arisen from the MU shut down is our ability to obtain clean raw files for subbing. Hand and many other contributors over on the Gaki Fan Page have been great at uploading 100's of quality raw files, however most of these files were being hosted on MU, this leaves us with little to no access to raw files. This isn't a problem now, but I foresee it becoming one in the future.

We are currently looking at Mediafire as an alternative for our hosting, but the drawbacks are the slow uploads, limited file size and bandwidth limits. Although, MF states that they have unlimited bandwidth, we have seen situations where due to the volume of downloads, MF shuts down the links.

The second alternative would be a paid hosting service. I really would not want to go this route as the bandwidth would be too expensive for us to maintain as this is a free site. Although we do receive some revenue from downloads and a few donations, it will not be enough to cover this expense.

Video hosting alternative would most likely be Daily Motion, the drawbacks are that upload time is very slow and I have problems using the service, which is why I avoid it. Veoh is an option, but I have already had my account deleted from there and the site not available for viewing in many countries. Putlocker will remain, as it still hasn't been affected by the MU situation, but if something changes I will let everyone know. Videozer and Videobb are not being considered at this time as files are not being processed even after uploading to those sites.

In the next coming weeks we will probably be testing several hosting sites and would appreciate input, good or bad for each host.

I'm not sure about the future of the filesharing scene after this turn of events, but we will try to figure out a way to keep this site up and running with new content for everyone. Thank you everyone for your patience and continued support.
