Here's a few notes of my own regarding the first episode.
The five Gaki cast members are dressed as Sakamoto Kinpachi, the main character on a Japanese TV drama called Kinpachi-sensei which ran off-and-on for eight seasons from 1979 to 2011 (172 episodes).
Quote:
Kinpachi-sensei is the story of a 3rd year junior high school class in Japan; its teacher is Kinpachi Sakamoto (坂本金八 Sakamoto Kinpachi), played by Tetsuya Takeda. Kinpachi-sensei has a lot of social commentary on issues such as homosexuality, gender identity disorder, and psychological pregnancy--as well as bullying (of both students and teachers), teenage pregnancy, teenage suicide, hikikomori, and the extreme pressure to do well in school.
Matsumoto, Yamazaki, Tanaka, and Endo appear to have the wig of the 1980s Kinpachi whereas Hamada may have a version which looks like a more modern Kinpachi.
This is Kinpachi from season 2 (1980-81)
We saw non-cast members dressed as Kinpachi during the Hospital/Nurse batsu game.
During the band segment on the bus, the soft-spoke guy on the right who's been making annual appearances is Ichiro Ito of the band Every Little Thing (ELT). Ito is the guitarist, composer, and arranger.
Basically, ELT became huge in Japan in 1996 and still perform today.
I think this ELT song, Fragile, was part of a previous batsu game (sung badly).
In six weeks, the new No Laughing batsu game will air on New Year's Eve in Japan. The team which subbed last year's game is already prepping for this one.
This may be a parody of the Super Sentai (Power Rangers) series.
Here's the best translation I could find.

It has been determined that the special for the variety show “Downtown no Gaki no Tsukai ya Arahende!!” titled “24 Hours Absolutely No Laughing Earth Defence Force” (Nippon TV - Yomiuri TV) will be broadcast Tuesday 31st December.
The theme for this year (2013), which is now the eighth special in the series, will be “Earth Defence Force”. Downtown, Tsukitei Hōsei and Cocorico will be enlisted as rookie members of the “Gaasu Kurobikari Earth Defence Force (GAT)” and perform a variety of training. They ventured on location at a school somewhere in the Kanto region and at the Fuji Speedway.
With about 500 total staff (210 of which were extras, 70 reinforcements from the Shizuoka Daiichi TV Corporation and local technical staff also joined), 250 CCD cameras and 27 ENG cameras, the Gaki cast were plunged into the trap of laughter on a magnificent scale.
In addition to those that the Gaki cast are familiar with many famous actors and popular models appeared as guests to make the Gaki crew laugh each time at their best intense acting.
First along the way to the headquarters whilst riding on the bus, various entertainers dressed in character appeared with an unrelenting barrage of traps. Upon arrival, the Secretary of Defence who turned out to be a super-famous actor became a point of concern. In the many drawers prepared this year, laughter is unavoidable with the DVDs relating to “Crisis Management Training Of Elite Members”. In addition, with things such as a Collective Responsibility game and the Earth Defence Force Inquiry Committee, the members are made to laugh by every means.
In addition, the infamous game of being chased by black demons returns and in the “Do not get scared” a lot of big tricks are provided.
As expected the Gaki members can’t help feeling the need to laugh.
Also, the public viewing which was received well last year, will be held this year in the Tokyo NTV Hall. 400 people will be invited in pairs via a lottery among those who have purchased the “24 Hours Hot Blooded Teachers Do Not Laugh” special on the Volume 19 DVD / Blu-Ray to be released on November 27th next week.
Here are some post-taping quotes. For those who don't know Yamazaki Hosei changed his professional name to Tsukitei Hosei, a common practice among rakugo apprentices.
Quote:
Cocorico Tanaka: We were able to overcome because it was the 5 of us.
Downtown Matsumoto: What’s with that honour student comment!
Cocorico Endo: I need to study more. I’m sorry for causing trouble to everyone…
Tsukitei Housei: My body is all stiff. I feel like the series scale-up every year.
Downtown Hamada: This year, there were a lot of scary stuff like the electric shock types and explosion types of traps…
Downtown Matsumoto: It was really tough. However, because Endoman was here…
To my surprise, the first 15 minutes are now subbed. However, it wasn't done by Team Gaki who subbed last year's game and have assembled a team to do this year's game. Instead, it was done by Zurui (who did a lot of subbing a few years ago) and J-Addicts (a website loaded with Japanese content).
I'm wondering if these two groups are going to compete for hits to their websites (and the ad revenue that comes from it).
TEAM GAKI has completed the first part of their translations. The subs they're providing are better quality right now (color coding, translating text on screen, etc.). So, I may only link to their subs if that continues.
