dis- prefix 1st meaning: not; the reverse of (as in dishonest) 2nd meaning: apart or separated (as in disperse or disarm)

un- prefix 1st meaning: not (as in uncertain) 2nd meaning: reversing the action indicated by a verb (as in unlock)

I said the girl was "disinterested" but I should've said "uninterested". Disinterested means they have no rooting interest or bias (He's a disinterested party) while Uninterested means bored.

^This, except it's actually evolved to the point these days that "disinterested" also means bored too because of how it's been used (apparently to the point where legal speak uses terms like "impartial" instead of "disinterested" because nobody understands what "disinterested" is supposed to mean anymore).
