Yeh, but I have some friends that use their xbox just for netflix which makes zero sense. You're effectively paying for an xbox live membership and a netflix membership just to watch movies. Not to forget you originally had to shell out 250 bucks or whatever just for the console.

I like the way ps4 is headed. I just want to playing good ****ing games. How often do you surf the internet on your xbox? I know I don't. I've tried it maybe a few times and was like, "meh, this is ok". It got old fast. Although the one thing I do like is watching movie trailers and stuff on my tv using my xbox. That is cool. But I'm not paying for an xbox live membership and an xbox just to do that though. I'm paying for it to play online games, not so I can surf the internet on my tv or pay extra money just so I can watch movies thru the console. I understand the convenience of it all being there in one place, but I don't see many people buying the new xbox because they want to use it as an entertainment center. People like good games and hopefully the new xbox can provide that.

/end rant

Damn, never knew adding the new features meant that the games are going to be awful.

If you buy a game and loan it to a friend, they will have to pay a fee to play.

Basically, according to Major Nelson, as long as you're logged into your profile you can play the game anywhere. What that really means is that buying a used game, renting a game, and borrowing a friends game will all require payment of some sort to Microsoft.

Sorry I'm drunk but hopefully that makes sense. ****.that.****.

Microsoft doesn't want to come out and say it, but their answers give it away.

edit: regarding the fee to play used games, etc.

The games are not going to be awful, they're going to be just fine. The biggest problem I personally have with ms is their focus. I don't want to turn on a games console only to be bombarded with ads and a mixing of mediums. I already have a bunch of **** i can use netflix, skype, facebook etc on, I dont need it shoved down my throat. Also not sure if this is standard but my tv already has a feature that lets me change channels. They've kept the same terrible ui that has had nothing but negative reviews but hey, it looks like win 8 so everyone knows its ms! Nothing about the presentation felt new or next gen. I'm sure at e3 they're going to be showing a bunch of games and I bet they'll look awesome but choosing to show so little games at the initial reveal was a bad decision in my opinion. There was no wow moment.

And the single player campaigns are so terrible I've pretty much just stopped playing them.

Yeah, this. Too much about the frosting and not enough about the cake imo.

I've noticed that this is how tech companies think now. Entire smartphone ad campaigns are designed to highlight trivial features.

Was about 95% sure I'd stick to pc gaming before the conference. Now up to 100%.

Glad they aren't making it online only though, they didn't go full ****** in the end.

By the way, for those who think the used game market isn't important, go into any video game store or online retailer (amazon, ebay etc) and you'll notice that most games being bought are used games. What kind of demographic is both avid about gaming and able to afford $60 a pop for every game they play? Video game and media retailers are going into administration and bankruptcy across the world and online retailers only do better because of the prices they can offer. This sort of thing will only push console gaming further into it's early grave. No amount of 'this xbox is also a toaster' will compensate for it.

The vagueness about pre-owned games and the "fee" and the internet connection requirement presumably means they know people aren't going to like the answers.

I don't buy many used games myself because lol retail establishments it's 2013, but I do wait and pick up a lot of games I only sorta want for ~$30 on sale a few months after launch. I don't know if that process will be as reliable in a post-used game world. I'm also super excited for the game to phone home to a DRM server every time I try to play.

Here's hoping killing off the used game market ends up just speeding up the development of mod chips for the Xbox One.

**** companies that think they can tell me what I can do with the games I purchased, including reselling them.

I also heard that upper management couldnt attend the presentation. They unfortunately had acciddently shoved their head too far up their ass.

And the sad thing is, the average ****** will probably buy this xrape thing.
