Hopefully they do a TBC server launch a year or two after this. I think that'd get a lot more attention. Vanilla was fun for world pvp and running around with people, but we're all hardened online gamers now and aside from the grind heavy raiding I don't think many people will find it as appealing as they once did, TBC smoothed out so much of that mindless tedium while still making it a challenge.

I wish they would take a cue from the private server guys who it sounds like they're probably going to hire from and utilize some of their code base. Allow people to host their own servers with a modern vanilla experience out of the box but full customization, maybe keep the servers inhouse for accounting purposes and keep the monthly billing going but allow people to spin up their own realms and admin them. That'd bring a lot more community buy-in IMO.

For that matter I'd like to play on a wrath server again, wrath was peak WoW for me

But I never got around to doing all the grindy TBC stuff like Aldor vs. Scryer so I guess that would be cool

Year 1:

Introduce a Vanilla server that releases all content over a year, and stays vanilla

Introduce a Vanilla server that releases all content over a year, and moves on to Burning Crusade (you can join this server at any time)

Year 2

Introduce a Burning Crusade server that releases all content over a year, and stays Burning Crusade

Introduce a Vanilla server that releases all content over a year, and moves on to Burning Crusade (you can join this server at any time)

I don't think the content even needs to be gated due to the lack of catchup mechanics in the early expansions.

They were terrible reps to grind. Worst part was it was basically mandatory for the shoulder enchants.

That said they were actually pretty easy reps to grind. The mobs were really easy to farm. You could hit exalted in a week by farming dailies and tomes/signets, a day if you hit the AH.

Now the Nether drake farm was incredible. Although technically you could farm a lot of eggs from the caves, in practice the eggs were so hotly contested and spawned so slowly you were effectively timegated by the dailies.

getting back into this for something to do on the new comp. Any advantages to playing on a specific server these days? I see a lot of them are merged now so they have bigger populations.

There are some advantages but it’s all down to what style of gameplay you prefer.

880 ilvl with a leggo the same day I ding 110. Not bad for no carries at all.

Haven't followed the scene since Blizzcon.

I don't think they've said a thing on Vanilla servers since the announcement.

In the most obvious outcome of all time, much of the internet discussion has confirmed the whole, "you think you do, but you don't" statement.

There are about 45 people who are super excited about the true vanilla experience, and a few million others who want the true vanilla experience, but without any of that actual vanilla gameplay.

Oh, internet.

But seriously, you're probably a couple years away from a classic server if they ever do get it done. Probably going to be the last-patch filler prior to whatever expansion comes after Battle for Azeroth.

Sad they removed getting bonus bloods from missions. Had enough stockpiled in combo with my bag farm to pull in around 1.1 million in the last month while basically not logging into the game. Not sure if cool or not

My guild basically said lol no to even trying Mythic Argus and we did RBGs instead last week. I think it's time to quit until next expansion.

Expansion HYPE or nah?

I have an alpha invite and haven't even bothered to download it yet. First expansion I am not sure I will play.

all the zones scale now apparently? seems awful

Yeah, early reports were that leveling as a lowbie takes ages

I don't see a point of even having levels with that change

Thanks to blizzard for the free weekend. Was able to cash out enough gold to buy WC3 + expac for the god knows how manyth time

xpac live for the last 2 1/2 hours. played a bit on alliance side, but my horde toons are on a locked server. =-/

they do a pretty good job of presenting the story so far, lots of little cinematics and whatnot. Tried to always read the quests for a while, but once i hit the first full on hub, I abandoned all hope.

Saved all my whatever-essences for today. Looks like head/neck/shoulders/chest will not be a good choice for buying legion legendaries. (which lose their powers at 115 out of 120)

I leveled to 120 overnight (ally), was mostly fun but Stormsong was awful. only took like 8 hrs, did see a bunch of people did it 4-6 tho including the world 1st

Holy hell, took me 2 1/2 hours just to get one level!
