Do you mean the new game, Super Mario 3d Word, or the game, New Super Mario Bros?

NES Remix is legit. Having a lot of fun trying to get 3 stars on each game. Definitely worth picking up.

DKC Tropical Freeze is like a month away

Might have to get a Wii U just for that, considering DKCR is basically perfection

+1 to all the praise others have been giving Mario 3d World in this thread. I know tastes are subjective, but initial thoughts say this is in contention with Mario Galaxy 2 for top spot my list of best Mario games. The fact that it is multi player might even give it the edge

That looks like a great ****ing game doesn’t it? Imagine if they released something like THAT? It would take some kind of dedicated custom hardware to pull off something like this. Well I have good news, the console and game both exist; and we should all be VERY GRATEFUL for it.
Da ****? Why is "dedicated custom hardware" necessary to run that game? What is he even saying?

This article is just such incredible Nintendo ball-licking I can't help but want to punch the author in the face.

Nintendo’s games are still as strong and fresh as they’ve ever been. People are playing them less because the landscape has changed, with mobile apps rotting people’s brains and a flood of misinformation, bad journalism and viral marketing taking over the media.
Go **** yourself you ****ing videogame hipster. Go back to 2003 when you were listening to The Shins before all the second-tier hipsters heard about them from Garden State. Except in this analogy The Shins are actually just Coldplay and people aren't listening to them because they've already heard the same album 20 times before you ****ing loser.

(apologies for the extreme amount of haterade in this post but holy **** is that article tilting)

That is a terrible article

Anyway

Buying a Wii u has crossed my mind (I don't game much but love old fashioned Mario DK link crash bandicoot games)

How many titles are there really on the U that are must play based on that list. Am I better off just borrowing one for a few weeks vs actually buying one etc

Haven't read the thread but my guess would be it's either of these reasons or both.

Save framerate or they're going to give in and announce a gamepad free console. A console without a gamepad has been rumored and suggested and definitely makes sense.

Why would a console without a gamepad make sense

Without the gamepad it's a horribly underpowered XBone/PS4

Dude, did you even read the article you posted? It's the GAMES, man, Nintendo's just all about making pure, unadulterated joy in GAMES and not gimmicky hardware like a gamepad with a screen.

It sucks that all games can't be on one console.

The gamepad is a gimmick that not even Nintendo has been able to use in any meaningful way. The best thing about it is off tv play, everything else is meh. Drop the gamepad and they could sell the console for half price, package it with a pro controller and Wii remote and not have a bunch of people thinking it's just an add on for the original Wii. It also nulls the argument devs have that they don't want to develop games for the gamepad. A $200 Wii U would sell regardless of it's power.
