Haha, I love PS1 3D graphics. They're so utterly disgusting and yet charming.

Wow I just stumbled across a YouTube vid of my all time favourite tennis game, simply called "Tennis", on the original Game Boy! Many a car journey was spent duking it out with brothers and friends on this game as a kid. The great thing about this game was that everyone seemed to own a copy... I know I had 3 versions of it. I remember one school coach trip across western Europe where there must have been 8 copies on the coach. Good times.

Has anyone in here ever heard of an old PC game called 'Doctor Zebasko', or something similar sounding to that - Sebasco or something? Can't find it on google.

Thinking about picking it up cheap but I've heard some mixed reviews about it.

My 6-year old has the same opinion. She's watched me play Sonic 1 and never asked to play it or even wanted to watch me play. But as soon as she saw me playing SMW, she wanted to try it herself. And she's hooked. She loves the game.

But anything past the first map is too difficult for her. I'm not even going to have her attempt Super Mario Galaxy. If she can't master the control scheme of a 2-d platformer, I'd hate to see how she would do with a 3-d platformer.

I rented it and didn't find it all that great. I would recommend renting it, and even that's marginal.

I found the gameplay to be repetitive. You're fighting the same type of guys for pretty much the entire game. I also thought the plot was cheesy and uninteresting. I don't know if this is new, but they do this thing where you have to pick up heat droplets to stay alive and rejuvenate lost health. I found that kind of annoying.

On the plus side, there is a major boss at the end of every level. I haven't played a game like that in a long time, so it was kinda nice. Plus, I actually found some of them challenging. The vehicles section is probably the best part of this game. You get to pilot a bunch of mechs like this one.



And you can always choose to fight the bosses with them.

I didn't try online play because, quite frankly, I didn't care to, despite being a big multiplayer guy. So maybe that makes up for some of its failings.

EDIT: Maybe not, I used to work at a 2K-affiliated studio in Marin and I assumed they changed their name but it's possible it's a new studio. I e-mailed a friend from there to ask.

I know I'm behind the times, but I really haven't played video games in the last 3-5 years because I kind of got bored with them.

I'd start one but never beat it, had a collection of them. Even though I really never played I kept buying games for some reason.

So, I am now trying to go back and play a bunch of these older games while waiting for prices of some new ones to drop in the meantime.

Right now I am almost done with God of War, just got out of hell and I am assuming am on the final path towards Fighting and Destroying Ares to become the new God of War!

random rant of the day...i HATE it when i hear ppl complaining about someone owning so hard because "they don't have a life" or "still live at home with their mom and don't work."

i was playing CoD4 last week, i owned it up (nothing new there) and in the lobby the other team said i have no life, don't work, still live at home with my mom, have never touched a girl....it's so ridiculous. i could go on about how i work for a living, live with my gf and definitely get more action than any of them can dream, but what's the point?

This one might hit pretty close to home for a lot of them, though.

So I bought a Wii. Still haven't gotten (found) a 2nd remote yet. Currently playing solo Wii tennis (1300 rating) and Mario Galaxy.

I intend to get the new Mario Kart and also Smash Brawl. Both of these play multiplayer and/or online multiplayer; which is great ofcourse.

However, I realize that then all the games I have will be Mario-esque bubbly type stuff. I think I'll hunger for some 'realities' that are a bit more serious. But those type of games like 3D shooters, racers or what have you aren't really well for the Wii because of the low resolution, right?

Any thoughts on that?

It's pure jealousy and arrogance. If your better than them at the game, you must have some horrible flaws that make them better than you. There's no possible way that someone could beat them at this game without devoting their life to it.

Nielsio, sure shooters are better on 360 in general, but I own all 3 systems and I still have a lot of fun playing Metroid Prime 3/Resident Evil 4. The graphics aren't a huge distraction.

I still remember "Tubular" from the hidden special levels. That was one of the most difficult 2d platforming levels ever.

Ok so, Wii Kart isn't coming out for another few weeks and Wii Smash Brawl isn't coming out here for another few months (!).

Surprisingly, she actually really likes Smash Bros. I try not to let her see me play violent games, but she got up early and caught me playing it and begged me to play. Her favorite characters are Pikachu and the Pokemon Trainer.

It's such a huge beat that I can't finish good video games faster than they come out. It even dissuades me from buying games I'd likely enjoy but don't "need" to have, like PES 2008 or Smash Brothers (yes I know it's great, but not really my type of genre so I doubt I'd love it as much as everyone else does). Doubt I'll buy anything before GTA IV next month.
