**** my 360 keeps scratching some of my games. Is there any particular reason for this? Its a replaced system from november, and its really starting to piss me off.

Is there any reasonably cheap products to remove scratches from video games?

Are you moving the 360 at all while its running? The 360 is known to scratch games when you move the unit when it's running, but other than that I haven't heard of issues. I would imagine if it is scratching games while just normally playing that you have a dvd drive issue and need to RMA it.

No I don't move it at all. Its an issue people have with certain games, especially a lot of EA Sports games. Supposedly if you leave a game in the system over night or something it can scratch. Its really annoying, I had to take back COD4 after never even taking it out of the system for two weeks (other people have had similar problems), and now its happened to my FIFA game.

It doesn't do it to all my games, just a couple.

is your system horizontal or vertical?
I have found that most of the time when the games get scratches it is because people have their system in the vertical position.

ANY movement at all, someone walking on the floor too hard while the game is playing or whatever, can cause it which is why I tell everyone to just keep the damn thing horizontal, seems to eliminate most of the problems....

I suggest taking the scratched games to a place that does disc buffing, like Game Crazy. Couple bucks a disc, but at least they become playable again.

Guys, I'm about done with Drakes Fortune on the PS3, and only other game I own is Ninja Gaiden but I don't have the patience to actually play through that consistantly until it's beat (i need to play a stage here and there between other games because I get sick of dying to much).

What other great games do you recommend I pick up next for it.
I have DMC4 for the 360 already so that one is out. I've heard the Ratchet and Clank game is good but have never played any of them before.
Also, I am not into FPS's so COD4 is out of the question as well.....

Thanks

Ratchet and Clank is kind of an fps I think. What all games have you played? Lost Odyssey is good if you like FF 7-10.

R&C is a third person shooter/platformer and is ridiculously fun IMO. Oblivion is a good choice, UTIII is fun if you liked gears w/ the 3rd person mod. Lego Star Wars is fun. Everyday Shooter and Super Stardust HD along w/ High Velocity Bowling are GREAT PSN games. COD4 is surprisingly good, even for non FPS players if playing online. The levelling system is more along the lines of an RPG than a shooter, just food for thought. Folklore is pretty fun and Warhawk is on sale @ Target for $39.99 w/ a bluetooth headset for a good overall war game (ground + air).

Meh, I wouldn't try to sell someone on CoD4 by relating it to an RPG.

The gameplay is still 100% shooter, you just get experience points for every game you play, thus increasing your level, and you unlock more weapons/perks/etc as you go up in level.

But that's the most addicting part for me...

The games are just a medium for me to level up, complete challenges, and tweak my setups. It's the 'one more challenge' or 'one more level' that gets me coming back again and again. The game for me is pretty 'meh' and w/out the perks of the multiplayer I don't think it would be as popular for as long.

Really? Weird, for me it's destroying people's hopes and dreams of winning that keeps me coming back.

(well, that and the gameplay stands for itself - I suspect most people would agree, since a lot of the guys I play with frequently on 360 have been level 55 for awhile and aren't even doing Prestige)

I must admit, after playing CoD4 on 360, I really wish I had a pc hefty enough to play it on. Stupid laptop.

Or is there actually recoil on the pc version?

In other news, just bought GH2 + xplorer guitar + cheapo hdmi cable. Very excited!

You guys reading about the EA takeover bid for Take-Two (GTA)? It was rejected by Take-Two, and EA might go hostile. I hope it's exciting and somebody writes a book about it in the vein of Barbarians at the Gate.

More importantly, Take-Two owns the 2K Sports franchise. This would end sports games as we know them.

They also own Fireaxis, which is responsible for Civilization.

EA could bury a lot of brands into the ground with this one.

I think his point was that they will purposely kill off 2K Sports and be the most dominant force ever with sports games. They would have good intentions with games like Civilization.

I think it's kinda moot because everybody buys Madden with the NFL license regardless of quality. So EA already essentially has a monopoly. However, analysts said that the value of having no more 2K Sports competition alone more than pays for the price they offered.

When is someone going to make a kick ass online football game? I love madden but it has become very stale and the online is really bad. I was hoping for a 3rd party to come up with a decent online.

Sorry if there is a thread on this and I missed it, but frontline came out yesterday. I played the beta/demo version and it was pretty sweet.

Anyone else have any thoughts/experiences with this? I think I'll go pick it up soon.

I don't know much about these things, but isn't this starting to get borderline monopolistic? It seems like EA is just trying to buy everybody and stifle competition. When does it cross the line between normal forward looking acquisitions and Ma Bell?

Between this and the some of their other sketchy business practices I think EA is definitely committing unfair business practices. I doubt the government will do anything about it though unless someone important raises a big stink. The right of the consumer to competitive goods and services in the utilities market or even computer OS market is much more important than any realm of the entertainment market. I for one won't be buying any EA games anytime soon.

I haven't bought an EA game for a while. They have shoddy business practices, buy smaller companies to remove competition, and are constantly showing they will do anything that will give them a bigger profit margin. When I saw how bad Madden '07 was on the PS3 I knew right then and there that they have no pride in what they do.

I just like to buy good games and don't really care who makes it, yet I don't think I've bought a single EA game since Tiger Woods '07 despite the fact that they own 94% of the video game market. Hrm, wonder why...

(edit: except Mass Effect, but EA really had nothing to do w/ that)

It is much easier to boycott when such a huge % of their games suck. They still have some diamonds in the rough like skate or madden. I would be much less likely to stick to this if they were microsoft or blizzard/activision who put out kick ass games I can't ignore.
