This review along with his review of Mass Effect were really funny but both way off the mark. Calling them a review is kind of doing a disservice to anyone who is potentially interested in the game and would actually let his opinion influence them.

Descent was sick, and yeah I remember being like 10 when that game came out and getting so confused as to which direction I was pointing in at any given moment

Found this video of unorthodox ways of getting stars in Mario 64. I still have this game in my N64, I might have to try a few of these.

The problem is its called a review and mentions a game by name, but has nothing to do with that game.

It'd like if he made fun of Halo 2 since its supposed to be a FPS but you do nothing but wander around a friendly space ship with no guns (as you do for the first ~10 minutes of the game). Actually even that wouldn't be nearly as bad since people would probably know he was missing alot - whereas people could easily assume his comments about Witcher were somewhat based on reality, if not flat out accurate. His witch comment would also be analogous to him bashing Halo's name since there's not a single instance of any halo in the game [or at least within the 5 minutes he spent playing it].

I suggest you avoid his other "reviews" of games like Fable and Bioshock then because he gives them the same treatment, and it's very funny. Accurate? Obviously not. Satire? Yes.

Oh and btw, I don't know if it's been mentionned yet, but Lands of lore 1 was a fantastic game. I would still play it if I could. The last level with all the ghosts was unbeatable before you could understand that you need a bone weapon to kill them. Anyone played that?

Funny thing is, I get sick on almost every FPS, but I could play Descent for long stretches. I think playing with the wire-frame map on instead of regular textures (a must for anyone without perfect memory of all the twists and turns in the tunnels) was a pretty reliable way to get myself sick though.

Descent was fantastic. GOG.com has a Descent 1 and 2 package, rewritten to work well on Vista or XP, for I think six bucks, Descent 3 plus expansion, and a Xmas promotion of 1,2, and 3+ expansion for 12 bucks. Absurd amount of righteous gameplay.

Descent was soooo great for dogfighting fun. Your freedom to move around in any direction meant you could confuse the heck out of people, popping up where they wouldn't expect and in general totally disorienting them. They say many people can't handle thinking in 3D, and it's true.

Doom 3 gets me so sick I have seriously used it when constipated to help kickstart the process. Gets me "going" in five minutes or less every time.

Yeah. I found his review of Witcher funny sometimes but he is so into his frenetic schtick that it can get repetitive and tiring. The people who are saying his reviews are good and those saying his reviews are bad are both saying it for the same reason -- they aren't really reviews sometimes, more like audio vaudeville.

For all you Fantasy/RPG nerds, I just finished King's Bounty : The Legend (PC/2008). I had not played the original KB from the 80's, although I had heard of it. This 2008 version is definately now in my top 5 all-time games. There's over a hundred hours of gameplay. This game is what Heroes of M&M 5 strived to be, and more. I got all my RPG/Fantasy nerd friends stuck on this game. It's basically a cross between Heroes 4 and another good RPG I recently played - NVN 2 : Storm of Zehir.

A small studio in Russia produced this game, however the translations are flawless and the dialogue is much better than most games. They got the rights to KB from the now defunct New World Computing, which was the studio that put out all the Might and Magic (my fav franchise all time) games. I can only dream that next this studio will put out some sort of World of Xeen based game.

If this sounds up your alley, check it out. You can get it through digital download online; though its a bit hard to find in stores. Of course you can get it through other nefarious sources. 10/10 imo

BTW, I think we should have a RPG/Fantasy nerd permathread.. I'm always looking for these types of games. Halla

Heck, even the comment about nobody caring anything about witches is probably the most entertaining and ironic thing he said - although not on purpose or with the meaning he meant. It just showed he didn't even bother to play the first chapter for more than the 10 minutes it starts to take for the plot to develop.

It's what you get when you get a guy who is hired to review games for which he has absolutely zero interest in.

The thing is its become some sort of like third level satire, where he's actually making fun of himself at this point. And there's like a 99% chance he's leveling most of his viewers.

Looks neat and I loved HOMM. The one thing that worries me from looking at reviews/videos is that it looks like there's a bigger focus on combat, whereas one of the things I liked about HOMM is the strategic aspects of vying for control of an expansive map - is there a lot of that in King's Bounty?

Well I think the biggest draw of Suikoden is the fact that the story in it and the sequels are all pretty amazing. If you don't have Suikoden II or a way of playing it it makes SI less appealing. Though I just played through it and still loved it(but I have SII year and playing that again as well). If SII does come to PSN then I highly recommend playing both if someone hasn't.
