Someone tell me a fun simple game I could make for X360. I want to work in the video game industry eventually and having something I made that I could show off in an interview would be A++, but I can never think of a simple, elegant game I can implement easily.

Puzzle games seem the easiest, as you would be showing off your creativity and intellect more than hours and hours of code and graphics.

Goofy, showing off a sample of what you're most interested in could be more valuable than showing off an entire game, and certainly a whole lot easier! There's alot of need for specialists now. I mean if you're interested in physics then do an inverse kinematics demo of some guy rolling around in a spinning hamster wheel on a bumpy very frictiony surface (ok.. that's not exactly easy, but blah.. you get what I mean), or if you like AI do some swarming + pathfinding stuff or whatever. Just do something cool and related to a field you're really interested in.

A quake 2 model running around a plain textured height map terrain doesn't count as cool either.

Did any of you guys play Master of Orion 3? I've been thinking of playing it because I loved either 1 or 2 when I was a kid but I'm wondering if there are similar but better games that have been made since MoO3?

For you old-school arcade lovers, a guy in Linden, VA has his own private arcade setup which has 65 restored old school arcade games. Someone recently did an interview/tour of his arcade. I wish I lived near him so I could go there on the days he opens it up to the public.

I had a pirated version and never bothered to look for a game's manual, which probably would have helped a lot. (Like do the ground troops' tactics make any significant difference in the outcome of battle?)

So here's my not so great impression. It was a pretty neat game, but I didn't really like it. I found the AI management wasn't too good, but managing everything manually is unbelievably tedious. This is what ruined it for me. I wish I could say more, but I don't remember it too much. Hopefully someone else can add their two bbs.

Sorry for being a nit but I spent a good 3 minutes typing this out in the Assassin's thread before hitting submit and finding out it was locked, and didn't want it going to waste:

I've only assassinated 2 bad guys so far, but from what I've heard it's pretty much the same thing 7 more times. I don't think it's worth $38, I paid less than that sealed and it might not even be worth what I paid. Such a shame, such a cool concept, if they polished it up and added a bit more variation and depth it would've been a tight game.

If anyone wants to trade a game for it I have it on the PS3. :P

Interesting on the amazon wii video games deal. I will definately keep my eye open tomorrow and see if I want anyof the games. I already have most of the big name games, but I still need to buy Zack and Wiki, and I could be convinced to get Super Mario Strikers or Elebits or something if the price is right

Has anyone played "Professor Layton and the Curious Village" yet? This is the first DS game that I've really gotten into. I've taken to carrying my DS with me and solving a few brainteasers whenever I have some time to kill. The puzzles seem to be right at that sweet spot where they are tough enough that I feel smart when I solve them, but not so bad that they really piss me off.

I was looking for a media center solution for my Wii and came across this article. Has anyone tried it? I am anxious to get home and get busy.

orb works, but i dont like that it connects to the net for whatever reason. i used tversity before i used orb but it stopped working after i reinstalled windows. connecting a 360 to a pc can be a real pita.

That was my main concern with Orb. I was more interested in streaming videos/music on a local network without having to login to an external site.

So my friend linked me to a site where you can sign up for the Hello Kitty MMORPG beta. For kicks I signed up. Today they sent me this email...

Quote:
Thank you for subscribing to Hello Kitty Online closed beta!

As much as we would like to accommodate all our subscribers, there are only a limited number of accounts to give out. We would like to pick best people to test the game, so this is your chance to tell us why you should be one of the chosen applicants. Here's how you can get an account:

1. Create an account in SanrioTown.com and log-in.
2. Go to Dream Studio and create a video answering the question "Why do you think you should be selected for the closed beta testing?"..
3. The length of the video should be at least 15 seconds / 3 slides.
4. Include "mmorpg" in the video's tags.
5. After saving the video, use the "Send video" function at the lower right corner of the page. Input the email address that you've used to subscribe for the closed beta account in the "Personal message" field, and send it to mmorpg @ hellokitty.com.
6. Multiple entries are allowed.
Wow, how can they be ****ing serious?
