I'm debating either getting a Wii or a PS3, but I think I'll get a Wii because I already have a 360 which shares mostly the same games as the PS3. There's a ton of accessories for the Wii (no surprise, Nintendo has always been that way since the SNES), but which ones should I actually get? I see a bunch of Wii packages with all kinds of crap for like $500-600 but I'm sure it includes a lot of stuff I don't want/need. I think it's a better idea to just buy the console by itself for $250 or whatever and then get the extra accessories I need. I don't know, but I'm open to suggestions there.
Most accessories are pointless on the Wii. Here's what you need:
* Extra Wii Remote(s) (depending on how many people will be playing it at once).
* A nunchuk for each extra Wii Remote
* One (or more) Gamecube or Wii Classic controllers if you'll be playing VC games or if you prefer a traditional controller for games like Brawl and Kart
That's pretty much it. Wii Fit comes with the board you'll need for it. If you're into DDR, you'll need a mat, but that comes with it also. Same with Guitar Hero and Rock Band controllers. They make rechargeable battery packs, but I find nothing wrong with just buying a 24 pack of AAs and switching as necessary.
