I started playing Half-Life 2: Episode 1 a couple nights ago since I have Orange Box on 360 but hadn't really played anything besides Portal. Now, the one thing I absolutely hated the most about HL2 was the last level where the only gun you can use is the gravity gun. I mean, to take an FPS game and completely take away its core (shooting stuff) for that long of a time, let alone THE VERY END OF THE GAME WHICH IS SUPPOSED TO BE CLIMACTIC AND STUFF, just blew me away.

So OF COURSE I'm like 1.5 chapters into Episode 1 and obviously THE ONLY ****ING GUN AT MY DISPOSAL THE WHOLE TIME HAS BEEN THE ****ING GRAVITY GUN. FANTASTIC. SUCK MY DICK VALVE. REPEATEDLY HOLDING L TRIGGER TO GRAB ENEMIES AND R TRIGGER TO THROW THEM AWAY NEVER EVER GETS OLD.

Hrm, I just read that Civilization Revolution has a demo up on Xbox Live/PSN? I'll have to check that out, def looking forward to this game.

pretty EZ gta4 choice imo. i wouldn't expect to finish it but might get some light enjoyment out of tomb raider. i played the ninja gaiden 1 demo and would rather play god of war, had fun with top spin on the dreamcast but it's not the kind of game i'd take the time to start and play. i'd like to try the lego games sometime, but blindly doubling up on them seems like a bad idea. virtually no interest in etqw, and i wouldn't play all-pro football if you gave it to me.

I just bought a game (for the second time) a few days ago. It was the first time I've played it in probably 6-8 years....









I now remember why Starcraft is the best game ever made. I got into it again because I recently just found out there finally making a sequel. I'm sure everyone else knows that by now, but it was news to me. I went onto youtube and saw actual gameplay footage and then onto the SC2 site. The game is going to be amazing, and now I'm playing a game made 10 years ago because of it.

Anyone still play? I'm such a noob I've found out. I never used hotkeys before or scroll on the screen using only the mouse, so thats been hard to adjust to. I found this site (GomTV) that has videos of the korean pro gamer matches. It's just insane how good those kids are. 300 actions per minute... ours are probably like 50 or 100 on a good day.

So yeah, Starcraft is awesome.

300 actions per minute? I don't think I've ever been on a game server or peer to peer with a game that could take that without pausing, losing sync, or doing that "rubberbanding" thing where it instantly tries to do the last unrecognized dozen commands all at the same time and winds up crashing you out of the game, depositiong you back in the lobby, or rebooting your grandmother or something.

Trust me they're doing above 300 and above. Ask anyone who knows a lot about SC. They're freaks!

if it's anything like war3, many gosu players pad their APM by doing rapid-fire pointless waypoint clicks during less active points of the match. i believe the idea is to keep the twitch muscle momentum going.

I don't think I've ever played Viva Pinata before. I bought it for my daughter, but she's the only one who played it. It's only a single player game, so it's not really fun for me to sit there watching her play it. Plus, because it's only a one player game, my daughter prefers to play video games with me, so she generally doesn't choose to play it. At least not recently. (She played it a lot when we first bought it, but not since we've gotten other games, especially Mario Kart Wii, which she loves.)

Anyway, the other day, she was bored with Kart and picked this game to play. So after watching her play it for a while, I realized she was playing it wrong. Well, I guess in an open ended game, there is no "wrong." But she was playing it suboptimally. Merely trying to attract new pinatas but not really having any money to do so. So I created my own garden. I looked up the quickest way to get money in the game (planting Chilis and selling them). Now we have tons of money and are going to be well on our way to building our garden up and attracting new pinatas.

The game is surprisingly fun for me. Mainly because it's a little deeper than I originally thought.

Are there any games that are similar to Escape from Monkey Island that are on the Wii or PS2?

Also, anything similar to Dark Cloud?

do you own a DS? i liked hotel dusk a lot. professor layton is more puzzle than adventure, but i think it's in the same vein. i haven't played trace memory or phoenix wright, but i know the former is supposed to be more classic adventure. dunno how wright is supposed to be categorized, but it sounds fun.

Ok something odd I noticed on Sunday playing PES. The Konami logo duing replays/cut scenes now said "NBA Finals on ABCHD" instead of Konami. Also, the ads on the field said the same.

Anyone else seen stuff like this in game? Kind of annoyed by it honestly.

Guitar Hero 3 has been doing the same thing, replacing some background signage with a few different ads including the NBA.

Ep 1 is meh. Ep 2 is fantastic. The blue gravity gun does get old but after that chapter you don't ever use it again. Ep 1 does have the single greatest FPS battle ever, though..

I bought Condemned: Criminal Origins tonight because I heard some good things about it from some friends. It's a pretty cool game, I'm on the third chapter right now. It's one of the scarier games I've played, but I think Silent Hill / Resident Evil are scarier.

One minor gripe so far. The first two levels were really easy, you only faced a few enemies at a time and they usually only had melee weapons and weren't too difficult. There were also health packs about every other room on the rare occasion you did get damaged. Anyways, the third level I end up facing several enemies at once, a lot of which had firearms. On top of that there has been like one health pack at my disposal thus far. I kept hitting checkpoints with a tiny bit of health left, then before I finally got some health I had to kill like 5 dudes one right after another, 2 of which had shotguns. If I had some health that wouldn't be a problem, but I basically would die if I got shot or hit once and had to do this part perfectly or else I'd fail. It took me like a dozen tries but I finally got it.

I don't mind a challenge by any means, but I hate when games ramp up the difficulty tremendously like that. I'm liking it though, it reminds me of Bioshock with the creepy atmosphere and me constantly zapping my strange looking human foes and then beating the crap out of them.

Anybody here play the new Condemned? I plan on getting it after I beat this one, curious on people's thoughts of it.

Yeah I really enjoyed EP2, although I still haven't finished the final level because I messed up on the saves and from all my savepoints it's pretty much impossible for me to beat it, so I have to do the entire chapter all over again and I don't feel like it. EP2 had a really good mix of weapons, although some of the weapons are really weak like the pistol or SMG. I used the shotgun for most of the game and did fine.

The new Condemned gets a little weird at the end, but the forensic stuff is way better than the first one and it's still a tough game with a solid melee system. So, I liked it.

i found a disc of emulators to download for my modded wii, and i've been playing earthbound for the first time in several years. i've played through it probably 6 or 7 times since it originally came out, and just like every other time, i completely neglect saving for several hours, then die and have to go waaay back and get super pissed and quit the game for quite a while. don't think i'll ever learn my lesson. and i died just after i got through one of the lamest parts of the game (the underground maze with the 5 moles that are all #3 strength - that area is infested with NON-****ING-STOP battles of the same annoying enemies over and over and it gets so ****ing old so quick, even with using auto-fight). gah

Meh different strokes I guess. I loved those whole sections. I thought they were very well made, clever and fun. They were something different which is a vastly gaping hole in the FPS market. Games like Gears of War, Mass Effect, Halo (god forbid I criticize it, its actually dire imo, sorry) are just boring as **** to me. Recently completed these and simply cannot understand why they got good reviews. Easy and dull with no originality in sight. HL2 pisses all over them.

Is anybody still playing Supreme Commander? I need to upgrade my system to play it, but I've got sooooo many other more important things to spend money on right now. I hope there's still a vibrant community left when I finally get around to it, not just a handful of wizened bitter vets and hackers.
