Random thing I found cool: Just started playing Midnight Club Los Angeles after finishing Fallout: NV, and it does a really cool thing with its interface: when you're driving around the city (it's free-roaming) and press the back button to bring up your "mission log", it seamlessly pulls the camera from the normal driving camera angle up into the sky and way above the city, so that the city map is an aerial rendering of the entire city, with the normal icons you'd expect for showing locations and stuff:



When you're done and close it, it quickly zooms the camera all the way back down to your current location. Very cool feature, also reminds me of Supreme Commander which allowed you to zoom in as far in or out (all the way until the camera shows the entire game map) as you wanted to play the game. I wish more games would do this where applicable - does StarCraft II? I remember being limited to the same crappy resolution with no ability to zoom in/out was maddening in the first one (although being released in 1998 is a decent excuse).

got in the mood to play some deep strategy type game, remembered i bought europa universalis 3 a few months back so i loaded it up. didn't know wtf to do(never played it before) so i go straight to the tutorial, which crashes every time i try to go through it.

sick learning curve.

StarCraft II allows you to zoom in and out, but the max zoom distance didn't seem far enough out for me.

Heroes of might and magic 5 was awful, Kings bounty is a much better sequel to that genre.

Beyond Good & Evil HD is apparently being released on Xbox Live and PS3 as an updated (graphically) version of the original game from 2004. If you never played Beyond Good & Evil, I highly recommend this game, and I think it's only like $10. I remember it taking a little bit for me to figure out wtf was going on, but once I did it was really, really fun.

I remember I used to love Heroes of Might and Magic 3.

I would put a cheat to get a ton of Archangels and **** **** up.

Tried to play a corrupted (unknowingly to me) dvd in my 360. Pretty sure it ****ed it up pretty good.

My dad is looking for a new game, for PS3.

(anything that includes having to think about stats/attributes - RPG-types.
he doesn't really like multiplayer games where the human element is included, but I'm not 100% certain. I think he just tries to avoid it.
Sports games

He's looking for something similar to the Black Ops Combat Training, but I don't know of any other game with that feature.

He might like Red Dead Redemption, but I haven't finished it yet so I don't know if it'll erase my progress if he starts a New Game.

He saw Medal of Honor tonight and after explaining what it was, he mentioned that he was looking for a game where he could shoot and pick maps/guns, etc. -- basically looking for another Black Ops Combat Training.

On 360 you would create a new gamer profile for your dad and have him sign into it when he plays (which separates your saved games to your respective profiles), PS3 prob has something similar.

I downloaded the Bulletstorm demo. My dad is playing it right now and he's not really that impressed. He said it's not his type of game. I also downloaded the Killzone 3 demo, but I have a feeling he isn't going to like that either. I played it and didn't really like it all that much.

I'm going to talk to one of my friends and see if I can borrow Medal of Honor, and I think he has some Rainbow Six games, and maybe some others.

I kind of prefer newer games. I think he does too.

What makes you think he wouldn't like the God of War series? The story is pretty awesome if you get in to it at all. Does he not like puzzles? Is he not in to the mythical type stuff?

Has he tried the Resistance: Fall of Man series? The original was decent and is probably only 20 bucks brand new.

I have both God of Wars. He started playing GoW1 and didn't like all the button mashing because to him there really wasn't much to it. He didn't give it much of a chance. I agree that the story is awesome. The series is my favorite game of all time.

He hasn't tried Resistance. I'm not really sure what to do. I'm thinking maybe he might like Infamous.
