Made it to level 10. Pretty fun but I don't like how each attack in a battle takes an energy. Seems a little limiting at times.

It seems I'm always scraping the barrel on energy. I'm bouncing between 0-15ish of energy.

Also the servers were a bit slow/unstable. I got to look at a LOT of black SOS screens.

Outer Wilds - dozens of hours into it but still nowhere near solving it (I think). This game's brilliant: a blinding flash of light rapidly engulfs the galaxy and kills you 22 minutes into each "life". I have no idea what causes this light, no idea if I can stop it.

But I've visited the planets of my solar system (those I can land on that is) and had involved quests on each, upon completion of which information is added to what quickly becomes a sprawling Mission/Sub-mission red-string board:

The graphics are nothing spectacular, but they make the game. The space-flight is arcade-like, but it's secondary to the story line.

Worth putting on your wish lists and grabbing when on sale next.

I played Rusty Lake: Roots last year and enjoyed it. Knew there were 3 games in the series, but just stumbled across the free to play games Cube Escape, which are smaller but part of the same world/series.

Here is info on them, click on each one and it will have links to them: https://rusty-lake.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_Games

And here is the order the developer recommends playing them in: https://www.reddit.com/r/rustylake/c...the_developer/

Also, super LOL @ me for finding and instantly playing free to play games when I have a 100+ game backlog.

I have faith. Netflix does The Last Kingdom really well, hopefully Witcher is more of that with some added magic.

Have you tried the new Total War: 3 Kingdoms game? Europa Universailas 4, Xcom? I hate to ask but have you played fortnite recently? They continuously make some pretty solid updates and if you're a "haven't played in a while" it's quite revamped and worth a revisit imo.

Any recommendations for good sites that cover pc games these days?

RPS has been my go-to for a long time, but they've gone downhill the past few years and it does not look like they'll recover, so any suggestions for good sites for news and reviews are appreciated.

There's not much that I can find. I check eurogamer from time to time but they've gone downhill too.

Apparently Borderlands 3 released today. I recall watching the trailer for this somewhat recently and thinking that it was still a really long way off.

It's definitely possible that I'm just being a old fuddy duddy on this, but I have many many hours into the Borderlands franchise and I think I'll just wait until I can redeem it on Steam. A quick internet search indicates that won't be until April 2020. Maybe they said that at the time and that's why I had internalized a much later release date.

Does anyone have some solid recommendations for games similar to "The Incredible Machine" circa 1993? That's a genre I adored, but really fell away from once I got sucked into the world of player vs player gaming when Starcraft and Ultima Online came around and hooked me. I'm getting old though, and can feel myself sucking more and more at the competitive stuff.

I feel like Factorio and other recent indie games along this line are kind of similar in concept and might scratch that itch. They've been fairly popular amongst 2+2'ers.

Also, not at all related to The Incredible Machine, but... I am not sure if you've ever tried Paradox games I feel like it's a pretty good candidate for a non-pvp game that you could sink some serious attention into.

There is a series of games on steam called "crazy machines" which is very similar to The Incredible Machine.

I loved The Incredible Machine when I was a kid.

Contraption Maker is the modern spiritual successor: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2...raption_Maker/

The team that created the original Incredible Machine® is bringing all of the Rube Goldberg craziness to the modern age. Solve puzzles involving ridiculous chain reactions full of hamster motors, trampolines, alligators, cats, and so much more.
It has a level creator and Workshop support. Pretty sure you get a free second copy of the game too. Heartily recommend.

Waiting for the Steam-release is just common sense. Not only do you not have to install egs, but the worst bugs will have been fixed and it will already have been cracked so denuvo will have been removed.

I'm gonna buy it on Epic just to spite the weird gamer sect that gets mad about this stuff, Borderlands 2 didn't have very many bugs and the game really looks like it's just another Pre-Sequel style overpriced DLC so it should be stable. The reviews have been good though, which is weird, because all the pre-release stuff looked real sketch
