Huh, that stinks. Or maybe it doesn't - perhaps I wasted $36.

I wonder if the Cartwheel coupon was a mistake. The price had been reduced to $60 everywhere, which was already 40% off. I don't know how the Target site/Cartwheel programming works, but I wonder if someone was supposed to add "40% off" text on the product page and ended up creating a 40% coupon.

I was actually considering buying a second at the low, low price. Keep one stock and then use one to try "hacking." I realized I actually didn't play a lot of the games on it (I still have all my games and my original PS), so I would guess I'll get enough enjoyment out of it for what I paid.

Good to know - I'll research how to make a backup.

There's definitely a part of me that just wants to keep these things they were meant to be. I don't know why. I'm also afraid of bricking them. I may give it a go after I get some playtime in with it (gotta figure out where I'm hooking it up first).

Crazy to me that with how popular the threads were for MW2 and the prior CoD games there isn't a thread....I miss those old days.

Is anyone hyped for Sekiro? I didn't see a thread on it here and I got blasted when I created one I think for Dark Souls 2 (forget which one) because it wasn't an epic intro lol. Just looking ahead to 2019 on which game(s) will be on the list to beat.

Having a lot of fun playing Portal Knights but holy fack the lag is awful on PS4. The game has no reason to even be connected to the interwebs in the first place. I'm playing solo.

Anyone have any experience playing the Red Alert 2/Yuri's Revenge mod Reborn? In particular, has anyone managed to get it to run on Windows 10? There are videos on youtube where people appear to be doing that, but it's all Russians, as is the mod's own moddb page, which hasn't been updated in years. It ran fine on Win8.

South Korean MMO beat em up.

There is stupid money being made on PC and mobile F2P in Asia. An Asian company has something to do with 9 of those top 10.

Tencent is Chinese and own the majority of Epic, Riot and Supercell.

Nexon and Neowiz are South Korean.

Aniplex and Mixi are Japanese and Niantic were contracted by Nintendo Japan with a Japanese IP.

F2P is stupid huge and there is a lot of region specific games with millions of players that most westerners don't know exist.

Being a western developer and trying to publish your game in Asia is also quite the experience. A lot of things are done differently over there.

I've noticed a change in the past ten years that I'm curious about:

What do you guys call the group of people you play video games with? I'm talking about a group of people all with the same prefix/tag playing something like Counterstrike or Brawl Stars or whatever?

I used the word I always used in my teens and had some 16 year old go "oh that's what you call it? That's a cool word for it I guess." I'm going to put it in spoilers so that I don't taint the poll.

Back in the day it was always clans. I'm guessing with the rise of WoW and MMOs in general the name "guilds" became more popular. Guilds doesn't really fit with first person shooters though, I would have assumed they stuck with clans. Or maybe they just go with the generic, and lame, sounding "team" or "squad". I was in Diablo/Counterstrike/etc clans but I guess since like 2005 the only groups I've been in would be Warcraft guilds.

Yeah, I always associated "clans" with action oriented games like Counter Strike/Unreal Tournament. "Guilds" is typically used for fantasy MMO type games. "Clans" is definitely the oldest I recall hearing, and it has a bit of a nostalgic tinge to the word.

These days, it seems like more generic terms are used interchangeably (groups/teams/squads). I'll hear "clubs" for sports games like FIFA or Rocket League.

I remember in the late 1990's, when I was fresh out of college and on the road for my consulting job, I was playing some online ants game. There was another player who took a liking to me and based on the way he typed, I was confident he was probably about 8-9 years old. He invited me to be in his clan but I declined because a) I wasn't into that stuff, and b) I'm wasn't about to be an adult in a clan with an unrelated elementary school kid.

To this day, I still remember BIO TONY.
