Sure people who paid to see it can be disappointed, you are right that I didn’t realize it was a paid event. Still the level of overreaction wrt gamers tends to be extremely high. Like to go to one of your comparisons, people who pay a lot of money for food and are then disappointed...leave bad Yelp reviews and don’t go back. They usually don’t threaten the chef’s life.

I’d also argue that spending money to watch a game announcement is a terrible use of resources so maybe I’m not the intended audience whereas I was happy to drop some good $$ on food while in LA.

video game players have been whining on the internet forever. any game subreddit is just kids complaining that they should have more skins or maps or patches and matchmaking sucks etc.

Anyone who's saying this is just kids whining on the internet is completely missing the history and context of the Diablo franchise, especially what played out during D3 and the hinting that went into this event. I can elaborate more another time, but this is a pretty special circumstance imo, and we're witnessing the completion of the tarnishing of one of the most beloved brands of all time.

The fans are stupid--this doesn't prevent a diablo 4 later on, blizzard has multiple teams. Everybody else pretty much has some mobile game at this point. (though there is no warcraft 4 so lol) Nobody went OMG that franchise is dead now for the others.

I played a lot of the first, a bit of the second and then moved to playing the torchlight series so whatever from me anyway. There's other options of that genra now.

If you're paying $200+travel to attend a blizzard convention and unhappy with the results you're a ****ing idiot. That's not blizzard's fault.

Look, obviously diablo 4 wasn't ready to be shown yet and they blew a deadline. Their mistake was not having some 2 minute trailer that's irrel in the end anyway.

They paid for blizzard announcements, got blizzard announcements, and they're still all upset because it wasn't the right blizzard announcement. Nothing blizzard can do will ever satisfy them unless it was DIABLO 4, Warcraft 4, all coming out for xmas and no bugs will be in those games ever and everything is perfectly balanced.

They announced it as the headliner at a conference which is typically full of computer gamers and the franchise itself is pc games. At best this is incredibly obtuse.

Seems like a far cry from the company that was scrapping games which were 95% complete because they weren't good enough.

warcraft 3 is the game i've put the most hours in, ever. played daily for like 6 years. totally biased but I think it's the best RTS ever. the single player mode is good but the multiplayer (melee, not custom maps) is amazing. please play it!

Awesome! I couldn't get in to any of the newer ones, but me and brother played hell out of the those originals when we were kids.

I listen to the soundtracks occasionally, and it makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

I'd like to get a 1440p monitor and the RTX 2070, maybe when the price falls a bit. Is G-Sync worth the premium? Judging from benchmarks, you're still not getting anything close to 144 FPS with any graphically demanding game, so it's still unclear to me if G-Sync would offer a tangible benefit.

Assassin's Creed Origins is probably the closest. The Egyptian setting is fantastic. Just finished my 100% playthrough a month or two ago, took 84 hours.

Anyone here playing Battlefield 5? I played BF1 pretty heavily and I'm considering V but I'm on the fence at the moment. Mostly because I don't have the free time I did when BF1 was released and RDR2 is taking up any time I have for gaming... but i've been watching a few twitch streams and it looks nice.

yes, its really good. I also liked BF1 but alot of (small) gameplay improvements make this one alot more fun. Grand operations is very good. But not alot of maps and guns/factions. So im hoping they introduce Japan and The US at some point with more maps and guns. (No M1 garand or thompson for example in a WWII shooter is dissapointing)
