Mine saves it at whatever volume setting I had to prior to starting a new stream. So volume level and whether mute is toggled is carried over for me. Atleast I'm pretty sure it keeps the level, I know keeps mute on.

I have this on windows 8. Sometimes I have to go into the win8 mixer where it has application specific volume settings, and move flash from 50 -> 100, which is a separate setting from the twitch player volume.

Given that I look like a bear raped some kind of cave troll, and I kind of suck at most games I play, any advice for improving my stream?

- join some kind of community for your game to gain a little bit of a fellowship with some others

- use facecam

- look better

- lights off with Christmas lights in the background (does wonders)

- speak more purposefully with a lower tone of voice

- play some irrel **** like WoW or Minecraft where it doesn't matter how good you are at the game, rather how good you are at entertaining viewers

- have irrel giveaways, steam codes, skins, etc, I guess this works for some people

- start fake drama with another streamer to gain some notice

It's all pointless though, just to have a "good" "popular" stream. If you're not enjoying what you're doing then there's no point. Just play a game you like, and if you're not enjoying it because there's not enough viewers, well I don't know what to tell you.

watching girls play vidya is the whole purpose of twitch, right?

Yeah I'm not motivated to stream for financial reasons or to be popular. Mainly I figure I'm spending a ridiculous amount of time playing games anyway, might as well try to entertain some people while I'm at it.

I do have a facecam, but hate looking at myself and especially hate the sound of my own voice, so editing highlights drives me up the wall.

If you want to play games to play games and have fun, then do it. The thing is, no one will watch you on twitch if that's all you do. A let's player with no vocal commentary won't get any viewers. Speedrunners and LoL pros and whatnot can get viewers by simply playing the game, but it's because they are good. If you're not providing good gameplay or entertainment, then don't expect viewers.

You can still stream it because why the hell not. It's an easy way for it to act as a recording in case something cool happens. I don't know what else to tell you. I'm fortunate I guess since I really do love watching myself and listening to my voice. I know nothing about you, but everyone needs to learn to love themselves for who they are before they can find where they belong and who they want to be. I have no idea if that applies to you, it's just my typical stream children's story cliché jabber.

These are my current emotes

I get two more already but I don't want to eat them up without being sure what I want just yet.

This is coming close to a lock though;

Yeah, I'm not just sitting there playing games. I mostly play Hearthstone atm and I try to talk out all my decisions whenever possible. I do get kind of salty sometimes though and I'm not sure if that's a positive or a negative overall.

I watched one of your highlights and you have nothing to worry about in regards to your looks or voice. You don't look or sound awkward which already gives you an advantage over a lot of streamers. The best advice for casual streamers who want to gain a following is to interact with your chat as much as possible to try and build a community. Even when no one's around or chatting, just talk about what you're doing in game as much as you can. Not only will it make it easier for randoms to start chatting but it's practice in projecting your thoughts.

WG is right in that no one will watch you if you're just streaming a game with no camera or commentary unless you're really good at it. They may as well just go watch youtube or someone who is talking/really good at it. If you want to be casual then it's all about interaction.

I found your stream to be good. The only problem is the terrible terrible delay, but that is not your fault. Other than that, thumbs up!

Yeah I've pulled up your stream a couple times. Seems solid. Definitely wouldn't worry about the voice or anything like you said. The salty stuff isn't a big deal overall at all, but I'd probably try to tone it down when it's about a guy taking his time. Makes it feel like we're in a huge rush and that takes away from the relaxing atmosphere.

The next step I'd do if you wanted to improve things a bit is get an overlay so things like the chat and the song playing have their own little areas instead of just being over the hearthstone client (if you've recently added that, my bad. It's been a bit since I've been in)

I was using an overlay that somewhat tied everything together better but it also had an inset window for gameplay that meant the game client would be scaled down quite a bit. Most people I asked prefer it the way it is now, but I do intend to add some new elements as soon as I can teach myself to make them in photoshop.

Thanks for the help guys, much appreciated!
