I've been watching the Hearthstone player reynad27 a bit. Something in the chat came up about him being banned from mtg. I did some googling and came up with this. Man he comes off terribly. I was a bit surprised; even though he seems a bit arrogant/douchey I didn't think it was true to such an extent. Lost me as a viewer for sure.

Foreign language? Not sure what you mean.

Cliffs are basically he cheated, admitted to cheating, then decided to fabricate a lie when he felt he didn't get enough leniency. That link is basically a letter he wrote bashing the mtg organization or something for punishing him further after he made some antagonistic tweets.

+1 on Eric Shukan being an obvious boss though.

Couldnt someone feasibly make a TAS run that looked like a player input run? Is there any real way to know assuming the only verification is them streaming it?

Like by making mistakes intentionally.

Seems pretty common for streamers to incite sub and donation trains that probably wouldn't happen if a dude is just chilling with his viewers while playing the game instead of basically panhandling. I would love to read a psychological analysis of the kind of person that makes 10-20 dummy sub accounts on Twitch over the course of an hour just so they keep getting praised by the streamer. People are weird.
Yeah that kind of thing really puts me off. It's even worse when someone subs and says something like "I subbed and you didn't read out my name!" It's pretty pathetic.

I prefer to support streamers that are having fun and not constantly telling me to click on amazon, gamefanshop, donate, sub, follow blah blah blah....

There is a special medium where the streamer interacts but not so often that it detracts from the game being played.

I stopped clicking on streams that spend 3/4 of their cast not playing and saying catch phrases like "Welcome to Mankind" and "Welcome to the Dapper"

Yeah I agree with this as well. I think it's a pretty weird culture developing. The overabundance of advertising and panhandling is one thing and can really detract from the experience. I also have a real problem with the word "donate." To me it makes them sound like charity cases. "Donate" to UNICEF or something, not joethegamer87. I understand streamers need to support themselves somehow and there's nothing at all wrong with that, I just wish they'd use a different word.

Anyway I watched one streamer and to me it seemed like he was just profiteering off people's need for attention. I know this goes on to some extent on many streams but I suppose he was particularly shameless about it. He was essentially selling his ability to procure an audience and renting it out to those willing to pay. Subscribers/donators got to talk on screen for a few min etc. Biggest donator etc gets their name up on screen. And it works! Someone donated fifty thousand dollars to this streamer. I just think it's pretty gross and I'm a little surprised at how much of it goes on.

I like how reynad gives a lot of credit to variance. He'll often call his wins lucky or his losses unlucky and just go with it.

It's a tricky balance

He's clearly very grateful that he's able to stream for a living and interact s with viewers well

He doesn't rage, keeps a general upbeat environment overall I think he does it right

Some stuff is annoying but at least he's respectful and thats pretty rare

Yeah. That being said I think he's a good player and I respect him for creating original decks that do very well.

I've been watching frag since around day 30 or so, I'm a mod on his channel and while I agree with what you said, he has changed quite a bit. It was fun watching a guy chase his dream although once he made it he became a lot more robotic. The fact that you have to write him an email to suggest a game is just a recent example.

I just realized that lately, half my stream is "HELLO! strikes again" and "Think PBag" So i'm in trouble.

Oh wait, I say those when I'm actually playing, I just have to reset a lot. Whew!

When you start requiring people to pay money to you in order to type to you in chat you might be in trouble. Until then I think you're safe.

I think we can expect a lot of faill in reynads future.

he said hes gonna start flying out people from all over europe to his house to form a hearthstone team, he has already shirts made for their team, everything paid by himself cause he couldnt find anyone to sponsor them, so he was begging for donations on stream yesterday. he also trashtalked blizzard for not inviting him to the tourneys.

countdown to suicide watch started.
