that's less than I thought for a top streamer. it is exhausting imo, plus there can be years of time investment before "making it" with close to no return. obviously for most that breakthru never happens

Srsly? Ninja makes 423K a month from subs alone and you feel that's less than what you think?

People could retire on less than a quarter of what he makes in a year.

yeah? ninja is a huge outlier but is massively popular. 10m a year for an entertainment figure at his level is close to what id expect

then you get down to toast who is a top ten streamer by viewer hours and only makes like 250k, that is a massive drop

Yeah but how much snapchat money do you think Amouranth makes? Ok, point made, I guess she probably makes as much as one should expect.

toast must not be top 20 in terms of subs

moonmoon isnt MASSIVE viewerwise and hes basically saying hes gonna make close to 2 millions this year without ever doing sponsored streams and never putting out ads.

*i just checked the "real subs" count website and currently ninja only has 65k? thats still incredibly high but whew thats half of his record

** ok the site seems ****ty and some subs are clearly wrong (and some streamers cant even be found with the search like caleb)

Yea, only 250K... that must suck. Not sure why he even bothers.

Ninja peaked at like 220k subs when TwitchPrime skins first came out. He had just over 100k mid-September and was mid-80k even last week.

That was when they were offering the 1 time free prime trial and there were strong rumors that he was using a bot to make accounts for most of those prime subs.

Reality is setting in and his sub count is dropping.

I seriously doubt it was a bot. Ninja was the biggest name (still basically is) and Fortnite was just starting to explode and all those free subs went to him for the Fortnite skins. He got back to 150’ish when they released a new batch of prime skins.

He might have been the biggest Fortnite streamer but he didn't blow up until after playing with Drake.

drake played with him because drake picked the biggest streamer with most views.

depends on waht you mean by blowing up I guess... but he was already #1

those numbers seem about right, keep in mind the ppl raking it in the hardest are the ones with the big sub counts. i bet toast is prob on the lower spectrum of subs for a 10k viewership. community is important. and the ones who build the biggest communities literally never take a day off. its gotta be exhausting.

The Fortnite wealth has spread around quite a bit since that peak time. NickMercs went from 6k subs to just over 40k, Tfue* and Daequan, who I haven't even heard of before, are anywhere between 25-50k viewers (don't know their subs counts) a stream. Dakatoz is will get anywhere up to 30k. Myth hovers around 8-15k now, and I think he was hitting close to 30-35k at his peak. The major Friday and Saturday tournaments add a lot to each streams viewers, though.

*Tfue hit 28k subs as I was typing this with his stream on in the background.

the whole thing is being kept afloat by twitch prime, but i dont see amazon pulling out that rug from under everyone. amazon has unlimited money and they want to grow and foster this subset of entertainment.

all that being said i am enjoying seeing how this fortnite thing plays out. i think the fortnite streamers without a great personality are gonna see their sub counts drop by like 75% and a year from now there's not gonna be a primary game that's the face of twitch. and the ones with the biggest sub counts are the ones who have fostered the biggest communities for their respective brand.

Blackout will be big for a few months, drdisrespect is going to be more popular then ever in a few days/weeks.

I watch P4wnyhof's pubg stream ~30min in the morning and 30min on crosstrainer daily. I still dont know why. Its entertaining but its just.. i cant wrap my head around the fact that i enjoy watching a random guy play a videogame.. anyone else? We now live in a time where alot of people earn to much money playing videogames 10hrs a day.. i should have never listened to my parents 10years ago!

I have a few friends that stream quite often, so its good background noise with chats full of people I dig talking to on a regular basis. One of them is a pretty elite player, so I'll pay a bit more attention if they're playing a game I'm also playing. We all play multiplayers almost exclusively, so its quite the same thing all the time.

I was hoping that the whole Battle Royale craze would've tapered off a bit by now, but I guess not. It might just be getting started. I can't stand Fortnite and its metas, but if they had a load-out based TDM with respawns, I'd play the hell out of that. Maybe not load-outs, but a limited amount of guns. Primary and sidearm, and maybe a "special" of some kind. But the mode itself and the metas are just awful and I'm kind of surprised so many people still love it as much as they do.

Maybe off topic, but what would you consider the "meta" in Fortnite right now? I'm mostly just curious... I watch the game on twitch way more than actually play as I find I'm just terrible now. I can't seem to evolve as the game evolves.

Battle royale is here to stay i think. Probably not as popular as it is now in a few years but its just a new game mode, it wont ever go away. With Blackout around the corner it has potential to become more popular then ever now past fornite, but the high price may prevent that.

Also helps its by far the most interesting/exciting game mode to watch on stream.

I still like Pubg, Blackout to fast, fornite to cartoony for me. But to each his own. Pubg could use some new content though, Sanhok is pretty bad. Snowmap and c4 should be coming in december.

Too say a game is too cartoony is such a weird complaint honestly to me.

It’s a few things. 175 being the optimal HP but having really only 1 way to get there. The spray meta is just awful, the grappler gun is stupid. The weak shotguns is probably the biggest one for me though. Basically just a lot of things that lower the skill gap. There’s just too much **** in the game.

I only play the 50v50 with my girlfriend now. Haven’t touched the main mode since before last season. If I have a squad or solo challenge, I’ll switch it out until I have to do one of them. But I only stay in the match till it’s complete then jump off a cliff. I just don’t want to deal with another P90-to-LMG combo spraying 140 rounds at me without a pause.

I'm the same as far as sticking with the 50v50 mode unless I need to complete a challenge.

The fun of the game is basically exploring the map at this point. 1v1 in Solo I think I win about 9% of the time... not worth it.
