I personally don't find him super funny or anything, I've watched maybe 15-30 minutes of his stream, and I imagine 90% of his fanbase consists of 13 year old boys. Nevertheless, one could certainly argue that he's taken streaming to another level. The production quality/commitment to the bit really is second to none. I'm not gonna say it's an art form yet or anything, but it's probably not far off.
His fanbase is definitely way older than the majority of other popular streamers.

the average is also 21+ on twitch so...

probably not a single big streamer on twitch has an average viewer age below 18

Where'd you get this data?

lol those numbers are from twitch. kids are smart enough to not put down their actual age when signing up for any site.

GTFOH

I see where you're going with this, because essentially you're right, but...
It's the data they are presented and if you are just saying that there are enough people falsifying info to push the average age from 21+ to 13-16... You gotta have some other pretty good hot takes that I wanna hear.

That number has always been critically received fyi, twitch provided like no justification just came out with it and everyone questioned it.

I'm usually fairly skeptical about the data companies provide without solid reasoning of how they got to it.

Twitch issued new guidelines and Forsen and some others are freaking out about it lol.

One of things in the guidelines is it basically states that the streamer is responsible for their community lol.

twitch basically just making vague rules up so they can ban anyone at anytime for whatever reason they want

They're more likely cleaning up their site for ad $$$

The titty streamers are a really terrible look for them.

YouTube has fought a lot of these fires already and share the same pool of advertisers. YouTube has clearly learned that optimizing for children is the $ play, and are willing to literally push away major creators to achieve this.

I don't get why twitch doesn't just follow suit and ban all the sexualized streamers. Why is twitch becoming s place where the majority of guys streaming play video games and the majority of girls sexualize themselves? I feel like it sucks and is a bad direction for the site to go.

Clone the damn site and make a generic livestreaming domain, maybe even allow 18+ cam shows, etc. Use your software and knowledge to corner different avenues of the live stream market. But mixing the communities seems like it will end up in explosions.

I don't think the majority of girls sexualize themselves. Most of the females in the games I play and watch actually try to be decent at the games and don't sport much cleavage.

I think the titty streamers or w/e you want to call them are the ones who get the most attention.

Yes, let's protect the children from the horrors of cleavage so they can watch violent games and listen to people cursing out their opponents in a safe and sheltered environment.

Also - there's no/less sexualized content on youtube? Wat?

you basically lose all your ad money if u get ****listed for more adult-ish content on youtube, I think.

It's not about protecting the kids. Twitch/Amazon wants to attract big advertisers. Kinda hard to do that if advertisers turn on and see tits and racist ****lords everywhere lol.

It's not like they can get their tits out on twitch either though - some of them wear very skimpy outfits and cosplay-stuff and clearly play up that angle, but you can find the same on youtube.

If we get a disney-version of twitch with no skimpy outfits, no violent games, no drinking allowed and no bad (spontaneous) language, are there really going to be any viewers left to advertise to? Or is all of that except for the skimpy outfits going to be allowed?

They're targeting racist stuff and the girls who obviously are sort of crossing the line into camgirl material from what I read of their guideline manifesto thingy. Some of it seems silly (like expecting a person broadcasting to police their chat). But I am 100% positive they're doing it to attract more advertisers. Amazon bought them three years ago. So they could have cleaned up awhile back. If you actually have ever seen their advertisements, it seems they don't have a whole lot of advertisers. You basically see the same 4 or 5 ads over and over again.

The introduction of IRL was not the smartest move on their part, imo. Or maybe it was, what do I know. I certainly think the platform took a turn for the worse quality-wise post IRL. If it's still good for their bottom line, more power to them.

I like a titty streamer as much as the next guy, but the IRL section of camgirls only using twitch to promote their patreon really dilutes their brand. You have advertisers for major esports events or even streams of NFL games etc that dont want to show up next to that

at least alinity or cincinbear actually play games while obviously making their hotness the main draw to the stream, amouranth doesnt even pretend to. and there are plenty of very attractive girls like ohlana or nadia that manage not to make it a focus at all.

How much of twitch's revenue comes from ads? I haven't seen an ad on the site in years because I paid for twitch turbo before twitch prime eliminated ads. Obviously twitch takes a large cut of subscriber money, as well as a portion of bits (which can be earned partially by watching ads).

I saw something on reddit the other day about some unpopular streamer getting a several day ban because someone donated "neyggar" over and over to his text to speech while the guy was afk. Like obviously you should have control over what is shown on your channel, but I don't want to see stuff like text to speech donations banned/people are afraid to use it because there are a bunch of 15 year old trolls out there. There should be some tolerance for the reality of interacting with strangers on the internet.

I'm sure at the end of the day most of the new TOS exists mainly to just protect twitch in writing more than they're going to massively change enforcement, but it does rub me the wrong way a little bit.
