Text to speech donations are cancer no matter what. I've quit watching several streamers that I used to like because they turned their overlays into christmas trees with blinking and flashing **** everywhere, and their content gets interrupted twice a minute by a text to speech donation.

I've quit quite a few as well because of that stuff. Same with people who constantly ask to have their catch phrases/emotes posted all the time after they do anything at all "Can I get some [insert annoying thing] in the chat". Those chats are already impossible to deal with. Ninja just crossed that line for annoying overlay for me the other day. He's a huge streamer, but I could deal with it before in small doses. Then I saw a "Pon Pon" dance and I had to leave running and screaming.

The only semi-big streamer I actually like is NickMercs. Couldn't get into his stream at all before because he seemed WAY to BRO'd up!! But it doesn't take long to see that he's a genuinely good guy. Much better gamer then I thought he was. And since he's PS4, I'm looking forward to going up against his squad when TLOU2 comes out....

Personally I find the text to speech hilarious especially when it's in that nasally little kid voice, but I can totally see why some don't like it. Overlays don't really bother me too much as long as they're not too obnoxious.

well it started to be a thing last summer when pokemon GO was all the craze

i think IRL should be solely streamers that go outside and do stuff.

streamers who just sit in front of their computer and talk to chat should be categorised under talk show, or given a new category.

those are semantics tho, ultimately twitch is going through a paradigm shift that youtube went through; at a certain point you're going to cater less to the original base and more toward the corporate base, and that means more appeal to family friendly safe spaces.

Also loving this CasinoDaddy account, watching this guy max roll online slot bonuses is a helluva lotta fun to watch.

Been seeing a lot of players on the early access for Kingdom Come: Deliverance - looks like it may end up being very legit

Bolded is kind of my point.

That's what I meant with more power to them if it helps their bottom line. I don't have to like everything that's good for their bottom line, though.

Apologies if this isn't an appropriate place to post this question, but for those of you fellow streamers out there (or other people who may know) what kind of upload speed do you need to consistently maintain 1080p quality? I'm usually at 10-12 upload and when trying to stream Overwatch can only maintain HD for about half the stream while the rest looks grainy. Also experience annoying FPS spikes. I've been using OBS fwiw. It's possible that these issues are b/c OW is rather visually demanding and maybe I would be able to stream most other games w/o any such issues but I currently lack too much knowledge about this stuff to be comfortable concluding anything.

Don't know but try 900p and realize no one will know the difference.

most pros cap at 900p. you're gonna tax your video card and your upload if you go higher.

the amount of data that needs to be encoded at 1080p vs 900 is like 50% higher or something.

i haven't crunched the numbers, but I'm pretty sure 10 upload isn't enough to stream even 900p comfortably. Just do 720, no one will notice or care.

What does your video card have to do with anything?

the card helps encode your video to upload to the stream.

it's more CPU intensive for sure, but it's still a stress on the card, especially if you're running intensive games like OW on high settings.

i was having severe framerate issues with OBS/overwatch until i upgraded my card

Thanks for the feedback. Changing the settings to 720p did the trick without much of a drop in visual quality.

If I have Amazon Prime, is the Twitch Prime always free? Or is it only a free trial? I've had Prime for a few years, but never linked it to my twitch account. Never really thought about it much, but I was just looking at it and it seems like I'm missing out on free games and cosmetics.

Always free. Also get one free sub a month. I don't remember getting any free games but the skin I use in Fortnite I got free from twitch prime and I think we got some decent overwatch stuff at some point.

Devil May Cry HD is free right now with prime.

Also, over time have gotten games like Banner Saga, Super Hot, System Shock 2, Tales from the Borderlands, Walking Dead Season 2, Gone Home, Titan Souls, SteamWorld Heist, Punch Club, and Civ 4 among others for free with prime.

Awesome. Thanks. I'm going to link now. Looks like I missed out on some good games. I'm not sure I'll play Devil May Cry.

I'm assuming they give out free games periodically? I probably won't even play Fortnite. I tried it in beta, but didn't care for it too much.
