So in the last year or so (two?) this boardgame came out on steam and ios. It held the number one spot on boardgame geek for several years. I'm not that great at it, but do really enjoy playing it. Anyone else on here play?
Hit me up for a game if you want, ID is phillydilly.

I'll throw out a question for any regular players.
Turn 9 I'm US. very tight game, USSR up by 1.
Europe and Africa are close
USSR dominates Asia and ME
I dominate CA and SA
Cards:
Nuc subs, nuc test ban, SA unrest, glasnost, AWACS to Saudis, stop worrying, UN intervention, duck and cover, north sea oil.
(for AWACS, i control SA 3-0 and mus rev is already in the discard)
(for North sea oil, OPEC has not yet been played)
(another side note, i was forced to play wargames for ops on turn 8, so no need to worry about that card)
(scoring cards NOT played yet are CA and Eur. I have CA domination, and eur is me 3 BG 5 nonBG, him 2 BG, 6 nonBG, so i will trying to secure some non BG countries in eur)

what do you headline? and do you use UN on glasnost or try and hold a card to next turn?

I'd really like to hold North sea oil to turn ten. This probably leads to a HL this turn of Nuc subs. But this also means I'll have to space glasnost, and play UN intervention for ops.
If I don't try and hold north sea oil to T10, that means i play UN int on glasnost and play north sea for ops.
I could headline North sea this turn, but i dont think that does much. It does block OPEC immediately which could be valuable in a game this close

basically, i can add a round 8 to turn 10, or add 6 ops to this round. saying it that way, i think the 6 added ops this round is probably superior. although with a close game, R8 on T10 could literally win the game.

Spoiler:
so i headlined nuc subs. this should really dissuade him from trying to break my control in SA or CA.
My plan is to hold glast, un int, and north sea oil for the last 2 rounds of this turn. if i feel i'm in good shape, i'll go with the hold NSO to T10, if not, I'll play everything this turn for ops. What will be the test is if I feel i'm in good shape, is NSO or an additional 6 ops more of a finisher?

Girlfriend and I picked up this game a few days ago along with Pandemic. We've played Pandemic a few times and have had fun.

I'm not sure if this game will be fun to play against each other, or totally end our relationship.

The rules manual is a goddamn encyclopedia.

learning this game is a complete bitch, but once you do, its really deep on a strategy level. I don't know if i could picture playing this against the gf.
If you are trying to learn, i highly recommend twilightstrategy.com
On the homepage there is a link to a free ebook that is 70 pages or something. incredibly useful. has getting started and general strategy sections, as well as a write up on every card. When i was trying to figure out what the hell this game was, I would literally look up every card in my hand and read the writeup on it in the pdf.

How is the AI? I might pick it up on my phone, unless it really needs a decent sized screen to play.

I haven't played the digital version, but I think card reading might be a nightmare on a small screen, no?

AI is pretty bad and makes some pretty egregious plays. game is definitely better against someone.
