Respec potions can't come soon enough. I've been using glaive throw and speccing into the passive that does poison dmg explosion when you kill an enemy...only to find out it only procs off kills by abilities that do weapon DPS and not abilities that do base damage. The skill explanations in this game are ridiculous. The only way I even found out that these two things don't work in combination is from reading a thread on the Runic forums, and who knows how the hell those people found out.

been playing a bit now, game is a lot of fun. its the type of gameplay i was looking for from diablo 3 so it definitely helps make up for the colossal disappointment that was.

few questions/observations: is anyone finding the game very easy? i have the difficulty bumped up one and im not having any trouble at all. im a level 20 engineer using a cannon and basically just spamming the **** out of blast cannon. you can shoot it across the screen and its incredibly easy to kite everything. you get a 35% chance to stun from the cannon shot and that synergizes well with "large weapon expertise" and "coup de grace." i melt just about everything very quickly.

i think they need to change the way potions work. the drop rate is extremely high and they're too powerful. i just drink a mana potion and i can spam blast cannon for days. i also had like 50 something health potions at one point without buying any which is just too much imo.

also, was this written by a 10 year old? the wording seems awkward and clunky everywhere. i saw a load screen that mentioned something about enemies being "highlit." lol.

it also seems like they almost directly ripped off diablo 2 (alchemist = dark wanderer), even right down to the music but that's fine with me. there are enough differences to make it entertaining. im really enjoying the game despite all this lol. dctufts on steam if anyone wants to add me and do some grinding.

At like leveling 20 berserker on veteran I have to spam health pots. I'm sure my build is garbage though.

Couldn't deal with the first skill point wasted on a skill I didn't use with my embermage so I ****ed around and enabled console and 'resetskills'. Apparently now I'm flagged as a cheater =(

I guess respec pots are already in the game? I feel like a shmuck for being flagged now.

I've probably started 6 toons now just because, 1. I want to try them all, and 2. I wanted to try different builds.

Outlander and Berzerker kinda suck, imo, Mage is pretty good, and Engineer is fun in both elemental damage and cannon.

Elemental and Cannon both need their own builds and one thing I fail to do is to really take a couple seconds to read the tooltips and properly understand them.

A skill that says 80% Fire Damage is much different than 250% weapon damage. One requires Focus while the other requires Strength.

At least now I'm starting to understand how the game works.

But I guess in the end the fun is all about building your character and living with the outcome. If there are respec potions then that will be good to be able to respec later on when you know which skills are good and which are pretty useless.

I know there are a few times I think, "oh that sounds fun," only to find out it's useless.

Now I just need to stick to one class and play the game further than Act 1.

Idk though. Embermage seems stronger. I can burn mobs down way quicker. :|

how is mutli in this game?
can u trade items with people?
is there a pvp mode?

couldn´t get it yet and wondering how everyone thinks about it (coming from d3 which I like for the gameplay and dislike for the boring part and small content).

Man, TL2 feels more like a sequel to D2 than D3 was (this is a good thing). I'm super impressed for the amount of content you get for $20. I just wish it had a closed server. Other than the lack of the closed server, this is probably the best "it's like D2" game I've played.

Too late to edit my post. The game play vs D3 feels like it's in 4x play back speed. D3 feels like you're stuck in mud and over balanced / slow.

TL2 feels like you run twice as fast, most skills have no cooldown (limited by mana) and there's a ton of mobs everywhere. I run around the map like a maniac just exploding stuff. It's pretty challenging too.

To put things into perspective, I've played D3 in HC from day 1. I have no experience in SC mode. I made it to 60 and A4 hell before dying (this was in 1.0.1). Other than that I have not died and I'm happily farming A1/A2 inferno now.

In TL2, I'm playing on veteran mode and I've died probably 20 times so far. Things are ripping my face off. Most deaths are elemental damage just melting me or getting 1 shot by unique packs/bosses. I just finished the campaign at lvl 53. It feels a bit more difficult than playing D2 for the first time in hell mode without any twinked items. I was always within a level or 2 from the mobs too.

I'm playing a dual wielding berserker. The build I'm using feels like a mix between a frenzy and berserker barb in D2 except with more aoe.

Now there's a "new game" mode which is basically like nightmare in D2/D3 and there's also NG++, +++, and ++++ (4 tiers of difficulty). This mechanic is separate from choosing normal/vet/elite at the start. If you started at vet, you will be in NG+n vet mode too unless you reset your difficulty.

I imagine elite NG++++ would be really hard. I heard the mobs scale up to level 120 and your level cap is 100.

In addition to NG there's a "maps" zone where you can purchase level 48-105 scrolls. The scrolls spawn dungeons. I assume they are endless. The scrolls have magic properties too, like you can choose to buy a scroll where you deal 50% more damage but mobs hit 20% harder and have 10% life leech, etc.. Seems like maps is a good spot to MF maybe.

Yeah game is pretty awesome. The campaign is definitely longer than D3 and the random quests and open world nature of the maps is fantastic.

How to play embermage: Max out hailstorm, elemental boon, fire, ice, and lightning brand. One skill towards prismatic bolt and 5 to 10 towards charge mastery. Find the elemental overload and/or dervish spells for additional OPness. Kill all the regular monsters with plain old prismatic bolts. Against the bosses you need to buff yourself and cast hailstorm before using prismatic bolts. Watch them all melt in seconds! Barreled through the game on veteran difficulty in 15 hours using this build.

Will try out the berserker whenever I feel like doing another run.

Lvl 61 embermage on hardcore normal if anyone wants to play.

I might have a ! above my head but thats cause I used console to reset skills, nothing else. It really baffles me why devs dont add these features in the game to begin with as that and larger stash sizes are like the 1st things people ask for.

Anyway msg me here for steam name. Started NG+ the other night.

Only like level 20 on frost embermage but this is basically what I wanted diablo 3 to be. It almost kind of feels like a mix of D2 and Gauntlet. I don't get what is so hard about having items that are actually fun to use. Some people seem to not like that there aren't stat summaries but I kind of like that it doesn't focus you on min/maxing, the game is designed so you actually enjoy playing it. You need to plan ahead with skills, but overall it requires just enough long term strategy to keep things interesting without feeling like you are just trying to make numbers bigger.
