im stuck at home with the wife.. we watched every movie possible and are low on funds. I have internet but no game system. What can i get with a $250-300 budget to keep me good for a month? Also aren't the new systems coming out? PS5 or new xbox? should i wait to get those or to get one of the previous systems earlier? please help!

There are tons of great phone apps/games that are dirt cheap.

To a lesser extent, there are lots of PC games available for cheap on Steam, Epic, HumbleBundle, etc...

Can download an emulator for your computer for free and put in on the tv. I use an app so I can use any controller with the emulator.

If I had about 300 to spend I'd probably try to find a PS4 + FF7 remake bundle.

Or, the budget solution would be cheap PC games on Steam etc. as mentioned above.
