I hate it when I try out a new custom (which means I obviously suck at it) and my teammate says nothing to me all game and then types "my ally sucks" in all chat when we start losing.

I think you played pretty well through all of the games Karak.

I don't think you'll like zvt or zvz much though.

It's funny cause ZvP is the one match up I know the least about, but the unit comps seem pretty straightforward.

ZvT will be tough for the obvious reasons, but I do have a super solid understanding of (but perhaps not proficiency of) Terran mechanics, counters and everything in that match up. I might lose to masters zerg all the time, but I crushed anyone mid diamond or lower Z pretty thoroughly as T. I have a tendency to do every build ever, so if I see a terran unit comp/base setup I'm going to intuitively know what he's doing. I also know Terran strength/weaknesses well from playing the race for the last 6 months. I'm also of the belief that T is going to be nerfed within the next month or two and that the new map pool is really going to open things up for Zerg.

ZvZ seems appealing to me. Those are always my favorite matches to watch. IT seems like wonky builds work there (which I like), or the play is straightforward. Pwncakery's zvz build is something unique I haven't seen elsewhere, so if I master that it should help me on ladder I would think?


And going back to ZvT for a second, let's be honest: I can a-move with the best of them. Amirite? Amirite?

Do not go up the ramp

Karak good choice with the switch to Z from T. I made it about 2-3 weeks ago with some help from pwny and I'm having a lot of fun. Feel free to hit me up any time if you want to practice. My tag on bnet is mothergoose.

ZvT is the most fun and will probably be the easiest for you since you'll understand that match up the most.

ZvP is hard at first. You kind of have to learn it in stages. You'll first get crushed by 4gates and DT rushes. Then you'll start getting crushed by 2base timing pushes. Then you'll start getting crushed by end game collo death ball pushes. Eventually you'll learn how to deal with all of those moderately well and the match up becomes pretty fun.

ZvZ is generally pretty gay. I still sometimes insta quit or 6 pool if its a ZvZ on a small map. This match up on large maps is actually a lot of fun if you get an opponent that decides they want to go past the early game.

Sounds like me trying to switch to Terran on the ladder at the diamond nosebleeds.

I feel your pain.

Especially since Z is so insanely fragile at that level to begin with, you're always going to have to be flirting with defeat if you want to win. Makes it hard for someone who isn't familiar with the timings.

Out of all the matchups I think ZvZ is indeed the most boring and the one i'd avoid..
TvT is a lot of fun imo.
PvP I am not sure about.

And I got a coach for Sc2 (HasHe). I never thought i'd pay for that sort of thing but so far it has helped a lot.

Custom 1v1s are always like plat/diamond players. I'll play them when I don't feel having my play affect my ladder W/L record (where I'm gold), but the level of play is wayy higher and I usually get smashed and feel bad about it.

so Blizz matched me up vs IdrA.. guy was obv toying with me the whole time, even made like 30 changelings and tried to blend in with my army.. lol. So yea, I got raped in the ass.

Join a public game on one of those obs maps. There have always been lower level players the few times I tried it.

Wow, I just lost the most embarrassing pvp in the tl open. I kill the guys cyber core after 4 gating(he blocked his ramp lol) and still lose the game.

Quite possibly the worst game I've ever microed. I killed one of my own stalkers.

Oh well, he gets Stephano next.

i won my first match vs protoss w/ my trusty hydra drop after they guy goes nexus first on scrap station.

2nd game vs a random who rolls toss i have my drone scouting his base until ~5:30 and he has both his gases and 3 gates. he kills my drone then throws up 2 more gates and kills me. sigh.

Nicely done on the first game. A win is a win.

I've only seen a 5 gate a few times. That sucks though.
