I never played starcraft 1 but I watched some before, and watched today for the flash shenanigans
Spoiler:
even not knowing the game well, it was pretty sick how he won the pvp, especially game 2.
This is such a feat, this must have been a complete mindfk for his opponent.
Like, dude has a 2nd base mining for ages and still loses to the world's longest 1-base all-in? How long does it take for the mining advantage to give him a clearly superior army?!?
DRG looked so good in G1, making a game of it after losing a billion drones to widow mines. Definitely thought he had a good shot of taking it if he just patched up that weakness. Unfortunately he just kinda rolled over in G2 and then tilted G3
lol.
LOL, holding off two fac after cc first. Don't care if it's an island map.
LOL, how do his scarabs not dud like every other protoss?
LOL, How does he go 8 pool against bbs?
How can you not root for a guy who, in the deciding game of the most important match of his life, says "**** it, I'm pulling the boys?" BOSS.
Spoiler:
I've enjoyed rooting for Armani, his run has been pretty incredible.
But I think it ends now. Maru's TvZ is probably his best matchup, he'll just push the 3rd and win every match in the midgame and Armani will look helpless
Zerg contains on that map are weird since snow can take five bases on his side with no problem. We usually see Zerg do lurker contains against toss two or three base. With all the bases, why didn't snow tech into reavers or do anything other than just throw armies away into lurkers?
WOW TY looks strong. The way he maneuvered his army in the midgame of Game 1 was simply perfect, he just looped the noose around Stats' neck and choked him off.
Game 3 was LOL, credit to Stats for making a game out of it when all of a sudden oh hey there's 4 hellions and 3 concussive shell marauders in your base
I fully expect Maru to roll Armani on Saturday, so I guess we're gonna get a legendary TvT for the finals
Credit to Armani, he showed a lot better than I thought he would. You could tell he put a lot of thought into his strategic approach.
It's kinda like a college football game where one side a 3+ TD dog. When you know you're a dog going in, you want to embrace higher variance and hope to run good. Go for it on 4th down, surprise onside kicks, etc.
The 2nd game, Maru got a little too cute with hellbats. The 3rd game, I liked Armani's adjustment of sending everything, except Maru readjusted and just killed all his bases. The long 5th game was fun, and though Armani wasn't always cost efficient with his lurkers he got the job done.
So I'm impressed he took 2 maps off Maru. It'll be interesting to see if he's really leveled up or if this was a flash in the pan.
This finals is gonna be LIT, if I were handicapping I'd throw my hands up and make it a pick'em
id also like to place some bets, things like terran to win tourney and, say, maru or ty to win (before they start) if some fair ish odds can be agreed upon.
Seeing Larva and Soma consistently improve season to season has been amazing to see. These two are probably the faces of the "new-school" post-Kespa players, right?
