nope - my best guess would be that it's close to as strong as it was before but has more of a viable transition behind it, either by nerfs to terran midgame comps or a meta shift favoring protoss transitions.

Innovation vs. Cure was a very interesting and great series

I didn't think anyone was beating Inno after his impressive romp through the round of 16. Cure has steadily levelled up, it's great to see him in this form.

I think I like TY in the finals, but not by a lot. Should be a great finals!

GSL FINALS!!!

It ought to be a great finals. Can TY finally bring it home? Has Cure levelled up enough to bring home the hardware? His TvT sure looked sharp vs Inno.

I don't know about y'all, but I'm READY to ROAR, READY OR NOTTTTTT!!!

Early in the week, I thought TY should be a slight favorite. Been near the top for so long, finals experience, very cerebral player.

Then as the week went on I talked myself into Cure. The up-and-comer. With MAGNIFICENT TvT to defeat Inno.

After seeing the games, yeah there's a reason TY has always been regarded as one of the top Terrans, even though he didn't have a championship til now.

An absolute masterclass in TvT, and a very worthy GSL champion, congrats to TY!

Astrea (Protoss from USA) making his GSL debut, hope he doesn't get stomped lol. Also never heard of this Zoun guy who's playing tomorrow (appears he used to be on Prime a long time ago?) or Prince, who's never played a live match that Liquipedia knows about.

RIP to our fallen soldiers who didn't re-qualify after season 1: Creator, Hurricane, Bomber, Top, and True. Seems like there's some obvious balance issues involved when 3 newbies qualify for GSL in the same season and they all play Protoss...

Soo's games against Special were kinda wild. Multiple instances of making several brood lords leaving no other anti-air so all the brood lords just die without doing anything. Making like 40 mutas one game against mech and unsurprisingly losing all of them once Special forces a big fight with all his thors and BCs. Kinda bizarre strategy choices throughout.

B match 1 (Dark-Astrea)

It's so disappointing when foreigners come in and don't do something wild. Like, this might be the biggest match of Astrea's life, against Dark who's like, lol, my 15th first-round GSL match, it's against an American, ez.

So with the stakes this high for him, Astrea pulls out...an adept build? Come on. When Scarlett plays Rogue (even though her being in GSL is less of a big deal than it is for Astrea) she pulls out like 3 of the cheesiest builds we've ever seen in our lives, she ****ing GOES for it, it's great. And Astrea's like...sure, I'll do the same cheesy 2 base all-in every Korean Protoss on ladder probably does better than me?

Le sigh.

he did bring original stuff and played really well (the sentry in prism), kinda look like he exploded after a while.
I wasn't familiar with the guy but I'm looking forward seeing more of him in the future

dark vs stats that hatch blocking the wall and stats hold and win was crazy. it looked like it was game over but he won.


I've miss all games of the masters I'm completely desync but field is kinda weak at this stage.

On the other hand, he also had the confidence to take it super late against one of the 2 best Zergs on earth and probably should have won at some points. As if that's not wild enough in the current PvZ meta, he did it with carriers, didn't get baited by -400/-400, and even tried a mass speed voidray transition.

imo that kind of shows the weakness though. Like he chose to go into that kind of game despite being terribly outclassed when he got there, even if he was making good strategic choices; yeah, the voidray transition was a great idea, but then he lost them all to shitty rallies! Why would you go into this type of game against a player as good as Dark when you can't properly execute moves like that!

i hate to say it but taeja looks like he's a season or two away from being ELIte and once all the koreans have to go do their military service he's probably gonna win a GSL or two

In all of his groups this year, Taeja's looked like he's had world-class TvZ, taking games off best-in-the-world Zergs and looking really good in the process, but runs into trouble with brutal TvP

Season 1: 2-3 vs Hurricane to advance out of Ro24, took a game off Dark before getting eliminated by Dear in Ro16 in the infamous "build a base outside your base 3 times" series
