also tasteless managed to use the phrase "final solution" and admit he reads jordan peterson in the same GSL cast. not a great look
Yeah that phrase was definitely unfortunate. I thought he said that he bought the book but never actually read it though (he also didn't actually say it was JP's book unless I missed that, although I did make the same assumption). And tbh JP's self-help stuff isn't too bad, it's everything else he pushes that is awful.
As for the actual Starcraft, the Ro8 series were decent but nothing special. Dark vs Ty probably the best series and Rogue vs Zest was entertaining because of how stupid it was.
I'm catching up pretty late - re: Maru's ro16 games:
That super lategame game against Solar was one of the worst things I've ever seen from Maru. What is he doing spending 15-20 nukes to advance on, and kill, a single base? That was some of the worst cost effectiveness I've ever seen. Is that seriously the best option Terran has for combating a BL-infestor army??
Crunching the numbers, Thors will do more damage in splash mode against brood lords (compared to high impact mode) if the splash shots are hitting 4+ broods. When Solar's strategy is to have like 20 brood lords, and they're not really a splittable unit, seems safe to assume your Thor shots will do that.
Plus, what happened to ravens? The anti-armor missile thing would make Thor splash even more deadly. And snipe is a very effective spell, and much cheaper than nukes, that we didn't really see being used at all!
Kinda tilted he advanced, that game was so bad that he should have been disqualified on the spot
Blizzcon ro16 changes this year:
- It will take place in Korea (ro8+ at Blizzcon like usual)
- Still GSL group format, but instead of bo3 each match will be bo5. Seems like a pretty insane grind to play up to three bo5s in a single group.
if classic doesn't play then TY replace him but I don't know how they will do the rankings.
I suppose everyone move up 1 spot and TY would be 8th spot?
Also some thoughts after the GSL super tournament, biggest difference between serral and korean top players is consistency.
Serral either wins or go top 4/finals (I think he was <top 4 like once? ) , when all koreans winners don't have streaks and the pattern this year was winners do bad the very next tourney.
GSL league is different format than week long tournaments (players prepare for specific opponents in GSL league), but even then there is no consistency in GSL either this year.
I watched all games so far, I'm exhausted!
Really great games all around.
such close games, showtime played great.
There were some really crazy games showtime vs sOo with the hatch in toss natural into a canon rush into madness.
Also very close to beat dark.
what the hell Time?
He played so well, kinda shown the tilt in last game but he even put up a great fight vs serral (game 1 especially).
Happy to see maru go through and keep the serral vs maru dream alive
