Le Flying Rat has two ro4 players (Serral, Dark) in the same ro8 match but his Maru/Serral finals isn't looking too bad

I also have an eliminated player (Zest) in the ro4, and a Maru/Stats final, so my bracket is trash

yeah i think the draw was pretty good to me. i could potentially have 3/4 semi-finalists correct (maru, rogue, serral) then 2/2 finalists (maru, serral) and the champion (serral) if things break perfectly.

I didn't know they'd re-seed the brackets after the Ro16, so some people (ME) might have gotten shafted with the Ro8 matchups.

So, sorry about that. I was wrong about having us re-seed the brackets, as we should have... just went with last year's format, which was incorrect.

ya it's kinda silly that you could theoretically have chosen all 8 people correctly and have a chance to get only 2/4 semis and 1/2 finalists where someone who literally got 4/8 could still luck out

Followed SC2 heavily back in the day (top masters like 2013?), and whenever I catch a random great match I wind up trying to catch up on current SC2 in a day but of course don't know the details.

I did catch most of the past GSLs and know Maru is clearly #1 and Serral is #1 foreigner who actually has a chance and not just someone who foreigners support like lolJinro, but if anyone wants to tldr any more info I can learn it'd be really appreciated.

Also I'm seeing a betting pool, would love to bet on certain matches with fair-ish odds set by other members to make matches more exciting, anything from $5-200. I'll probably take the Korean/Terran side since I'll be heading there next month and I'm a terran-aneous life form.

my earlier offer was basically that someone else chooses 2/16 players (presumably maru and serral) and i get the field. maru and serral are still in and on opposite sides of the bracket so at this point me taking the other side of the bet makes way less sense than it did at that point.

In terms of Protoss sOs, Stats, and Zest are all in competition for top rank, with Stats maybe having a slight edge at the moment (stronger more recent tournament success).

For Terran TY and Innovation are also pretty good, Maru obv. is best.

Just caught up on the whole series, that might be the best finals series I've ever seen. Certainly in the post-Kespa era

i know your original bet but i put a little spin on it and took the other side. i said a ro8 matchup to have the winner, so you dont get complete freedom to pick 2 people but theres still some decent matchups where either could win

i think these are more reasonable when i think about it. i kinda expect both maru and stats to win 3-1 or even 3-0 unless their opponents can pull off some weird stuff. rogue/ty seems like a flip to me, would probably bet either side of that if laid odds, and serral is a definite favorite but 2:1 seems way more reasonable than 3:1

I have a busy weekend of getting gloriously drunk, watching college football, getting gloriously drunk again, watching pro football, then being at work for like 14.5 hours Monday. Off Tuesday though.

So I don't know when I'll be able to catch up on hours of Starcraft matches before then, and I want to watch them all in order.
