Basically yes, losing your 2 finals picks/champion in the group stage will effectively cripple your bracket.

At that point, you're rooting for chaos. If you have Maru over Serral in the finals, they both get knocked out in the group stage, and Showtime shocks the world and ships it, then nobody will have a correct champion, and accuracy in previous rounds will determine the winner in a smaller pool.

In that scenario, you're putting TY in the Finals (advancing through the group, then winning "two more," which I'm interpreting to mean placing in the Ro4 and then Finals).

So yes, it's correct that you wouldn't get the 3 points for TY in Ro4, and 5 points for TY in the finals if he's knocked out in the group stage.

If you also had Maru in Group A and he advances to the Round of 8, then you get 2 points for that.

You never "lose" points, you only lose the opportunity to score more as your picks advance each round. Each round is worth more, but not so much that the group stages are irrelevant, with this scoring system.

well its ro8 after groups, so winning two would have him lose in finals, but i think we're on the same page.

to reconfirm, say i pick the top 2 of a group but in the wrong order, my ro8 brackets are fked, what happens then? im starting to think this puts a lot of pressure on picking groups correctly

If you pick the two to advance correctly, but in the wrong order, you'll still get the 4 points for getting the two of them into the Round of 8.

The only difference is that in their Round of 8 matchup, you'll have them on opposite sides of the bracket. You might have a guy from Group A and a guy from Group C both in the Round of 4, but they wind up playing each other in the Round of 8 because the group winner/2nd places order was incorrect.

I don’t really mind because it’s a minute advantage at best and we’re not playing for a ton of money, but I might avoid publishing how many people have entered until the end. I might build my bracket differently if I know how many people, and which people, have already entered.

Rooting for maru and rogue ,that's how legends are made.
Classic would be cool too.
Serral is too cold to root for him ,maybe if he smiled once I could think of him as human.
Is it me or it feels these gap in between tournaments feels longer than they are and I'm impatient and in sc2 tournament withdrawal.
