could be in. thinking possibly something along the lines of march madness bracket style? maybe like half the rank in points, multipliers per round? ie, 1st = 1pt, 8th = 4, 7=4 or 3? or just flat handicap koreans rounded down, foreigners up?

could be fun, $ wise wouldnt be in for a lot and someone would have to hold, might make it too much of a pain

hmm somehow i forgot it starts out in groups. not sure how to factor that in in a way that isnt crippling if you lose someone first round..

I'd like a pool of some sort, I think picking brackets would be fun.

Groups are...

A: Maru, Lambo, TY, Neeb
B: Zest, Heromarine, sOs, Serral
C: Stats, Has, Dark, Showtime
D: Classic, Nerchio, Rogue, Special

as long as it seems fair enough id be in up to 100 maybe.

tbh, i think we can all agree the bracket will be largely korean

but i guess we'd have to agree on something pretty soon to make it work at all

First group is October 26th, we have tons of time.

Maybe something like, a group stage bracket (get points for predicting who advances from groups, bonus for picking the right spot), followed by a separate bracket (worth more points) for the top 8 which won't start until a week after, and combining the two?

I probably prefer the idea of a draft to a ncaa style pool. I’m willing to not get a top 2 pick if others think balancing a draft is not possible, or am up for an auction.

okay, maybe we could do it like this. everyone starts off with 30 points. different players cost more points. maru is 8 points, whereas u can get has for just one point.

how are you gonna price players tho? like theres a pretty zero chance most people win, doesnt sound fun to sweat a team with no hope.

or putting serral at 8 points seems ridiculous but hes number 1 rank also.

even if its just us 4, we could each pick a group we think will have the winner, winner wins, but thats not much fun (altho i think fairly fair since maru+ty/ sos+serral/stats+dark/classic+rogue could all win[sorry zest])

yeah thats what im thinking also. i like the idea of points for groups, maybe double if you pick a (non serral) foreigner for group stage. at least then all brackets could look fairly similar and a game here or there could decide, rather than a bad draft spot.

what was the thought $ wise? guess that could be ironed out before debating more. not at my most flush point atm, cars can be a *****

What’s the idea behind two brackets? Reduce variance? Either way if brackets are what people want I’m in. I’d probably do up to like 50 would prefer like 20-25 tho

If you pick someone to finish 1st in a group but they actually finish 2nd, then their placement in the ro8 bracket will be different, which gets weird. I don't know if there's a better solution but I thought two brackets would fix the "someone's still in the tournament but not playing who they thought you would play" issue. It would be lame to pick, say, a Serral v Maru finals only to find after the group stage that they're playing each other in the ro8.

yeah that makes sense - i agree that 2 brackets def makes more sense than 1 bracket given the setup of the tournament.

more than just that, if you picked groups into bracket all at once, any difference from your first pick would make the predicted bracket not happen at all.

what about we each guess at all groups, say 1 point for each match correct and 2 points for people moving on? (could obv scale this however) then we all pick a bracket after they are released, points would need agreement here. either up each round or based on seed?

was gonna say 100 would be a stretch but 20 sounds fine
