i really hate how long sc2 games take.

after 20 min i tend to lose focus/interest. becomes a battle of attrition...

they should put a cap at 25 min and just base winner on score. Would encourage some quicker battles rather than expansion/harassment stalemates.

I actually kind of understand how you feel. I used to base my play on planning to have 2 or more expansions each game. I got really tired of having tons of 30 min games. So I've been learning how to cheese efficiently. That way when I get bored I'll just do some gay cannon rush or something. At least that way the games I play vary in length.

My games are always super long. I never go in for the kill, really, just always denying expansions while getting more bases up myself. Thank god for max supply.

Just the tip.

I need a new PC to play this game on. I simply cannot play at any sort of high level of play on my laptop which is overheating constantly (despite a chillpad and cleaning the fans) and bottle necking the CPU. Xel Naga Caverns is virtually unplayable because of that center ****ing cavity and anytime my screen comes near it I come to a grinding halt. I play on all the lowest settings and have my updated drivers yes, etc. I can't even put Pandora on in the background adnymore (and trust me I run it in a stripped down browser window) because after 15 units are on the screen my framerate drops dramatically.

ALso, my mouse disconnects every 5 minutes and my laptop keyboard has so much **** in it that I have to jam all the keys. I dunno how I was winning any games playing like this.

Any suggestions? I don't need an LCD (altho if a nice one is bundled I'll obv take it), and I'd like something with at LEAST a 512 MB graphics card and 4 GB of ram with at least a dual core 64bit CPU. Looking for a desktop, obviously.

I don't want to spend more than ~500 dollars to be honest. I can afford it I guess, but I simply can't justify it for more than playing cards and playing D3 and SC2 (the only games I'll likely play). I've grown to hate spending 4 figures on computers since I abuse the **** out of them and end up replacing them every year (for laptops... haven't owned a desktop in a while).

Also, any keyboard/mouse recommendations?

Also, I'd prefer to buy an already put together one just because I'm lazy, but I'm more than capable of assembling one myself from parts if anyone has a build they did recently. I'm fairly tech savvy (I'm at a level just under someone <27 with an IT degree. I almost certainly know more than people >27 with just a basic IT degree, haha.)

$500 budget for a desktop pc should run sc2 fine. Just pick any computer off of newegg or any custom pc website

im probably on a 5-40 losing streak. ive stopped keeping track after masters came out...and I just suck now.

I think i think I'm good enough to create my own BOs as I go along and try to "counter" my opponent and wind up failing miserably. back to solid openers and not sucking for me !

Just add a video card and you're looking at a 500 dollar machine that could handle the games you want easily.

if u have a copy lying around yea id go w that + a ~$100 video card, should be able to crush sc2 on most resolutions

make sure theyre all compatible tho newegg likes to combo incompatible stuff for no reason sometimes...

Brag: i get very easy group, should be 2nd and if i play good maybe 1st

Beat: i play vs favourite in my group, game one i go mass banshees vs toss cuz well i feel like it, and 2nd game i lose even tho i was up 50 supply throughout the game (missclicks and misscontrol ftw!).

Beat: 2nd play is TvT, first game i win with my "safe" macro build quite easily, then i cheeze allin vs his normal 3rax play and he survieves my allin with like 2 marauders :<<< and 3rd game i played like silver lvl player

beat: vs platinum TvT, 1st game he goes same cheeze allin as above and i lose, 2nd game i go my "safe" macro build and easily win, 3rd game i go double proxy starport with banshees (xelnaga bottom right) and he spots it with his banshee (why the hell would he go there?) and destroys my starports and i fell apart

Variance: i suck in TvT with my non-standard builds and im probably out of the tour now
