Brag: Up to 44-26 in bronze 1v1. Started 5-13, 39-13 since then.
Beat: Still bronze.
Brag: 2nd in my division.

This game was pretty sick. My macro was not at its best (or even close) and I was floating lots of minerals for a while. I eventually went mineral dead, without enough money to expand, late in the game when I lost my 3rd and had neglected to take a 4th. But was able to ironically micro my 3 collosi left standing and a few gateway units to victory, killing all of his stuff.




Map was Jungle Basin. Don't know why that wasn't an option.

100% maphack. View the replay from villain's pov, he looks up at the ramp a couple of times into complete fog before he's ever scouted it out, that's POTRIPPER-level blatant. Also this dude is 2400 master running ~40apm, with laughable macro, and doing silly things like upgrading his main into a PF and having zero detection until 16min.

It's virtually impossible to make an unhackable game, particularly when it comes to stuff like maphacks, where all the information is available in your network traffic (otherwise it'd be pretty much impossible to save replays, for example), so short of switching to a prohibitively expensive online-poker-style server-host-based system where ONLY the portions of the map that you have visibility over are broadcast to your computer, or an invasive punkbuster-style computer monitor that sniffs for illicit programs (and still won't catch everything and can likely be hacked itself), you're looking at an impossible task. It's more efficient, in the general sense, to accept that it's going to happen and put your resources into policing it.

5000000000% confirmed maphack. He looked over at your base multiple times during fog of war. Even when you expanded he looked at that too. If that's not maphack then I don't know what is.

ah isee.

kinda sucks tho... i really hope it doesnt get as widespread as it did in bw

maybe they should put the share vision option back in the game like in bw so you can check up on ppl lol

sped it up and didn't watch it all super closely but...

- use your chrono boosts more, especially early game. those things are invaluable.

-when your cyber gets done, immediately click warp gate...you had that idle for a bit.

-protect your expo by building some cannons/gateways with it. think like a lesser version of a terran base. that way he can't kill you with like 5 zerglings.

-2 zealots would have beaten those extra lings he had negating your 3rd expo...i think you should have just cleaned those up and expo-ed at the end. but i guess you guys were all in at that point so w/e.

you can spot changelings with the sound. as soon as you hear the sound look for a unit moving oddly or select everythjing and try to move it. they are usually pretty easy to see for me at least.

I wonder if this changes my strategy for this map...

As terran, my highest win percent, by FAR, is on basin.
step 1. stay alive
step 2. expand early
step 3. get a planetary setup at your center of the map third.
step 4. win
Seriously.
I usually take gas extremely late, go 2 rax FE, get an ebay and turrets.
take gas, build more rax. work to build expo and get that PF at the third.
Once you have PF at third, take both xelnagas, send a marine to each of the side thirds. this gives you vision across the entire center of the map, so you spot mutas/drop/etc incoming.
Just continuously crush him when he tries to take third.
If he has an army that is good against bio, every couple minutes, do an 8 marine drop at his nat. assuming you lose all the marines but can save the medivac, it costs you 400 minerals, which isn't much when you are a base up. He has to pull back to deal with it, any lost harvesters or ming time hurts him so much more as he is down a base. Even if he pulls his harvesters, stim and snipe one of his gases to slow him down.
Basin is most T favoring map there is imo.

Upon further review, this is a definite beat. The entire backbone of my strat is that once I get a PF third up, I can easily check up on all the other thirds. This new gold I can't keep tabs on. do not want.

The placement of that gold looks really awkward. Was this addition of the gold supposed to help zergs on that map? Terrans are just going to break down their back rocks and do slow pushes all the way down the side of the map until they get to that ramp which pops you out right on top of the gold. Blizzard is so baaad at making maps.

Also, this is really depressing if blizzards answer to all the complaints about maps is to take shakuras out for 1 month, put it back in and then slap an awkwardly placed gold expo on jungle basin. I hope this was just supposed to hold us over until they make final changes to the map pool.

Well if terrans do that zerg can safely take the expo @9 oclock. Its much easier for zerg now to secure the 3rd, but then again its even easier for terran to get the 4th

I'm no where near qualified to theory craft potential balance implications, so I'll leave this. A lot of people on TL seem to think it's gonna help T out a lot. I dunno how I feel about that.

Also, and I unfortunately don't have the source, Blizzard has said on the EU Blizz forums that they are working on new 1v1 maps and potential changes to existing maps.

Yeah problem is that terran can take this gold as 3rd (will sacrifice a bit of map control) and i belive gold is more beneficial to terran than to zerg
