Petraeus got Protoss'd

So theoretically if I wanted to woodladder HOTS and try to learn a few different allins as zerg, what builds should i learn? any guides/links to basic sc2 mechanics? My keymap is jacked up and i'd like to try to learn the controls the right way this time.

That draw seemed kind of bull**** to me. Should have given ForGG a chance to eliminate Mana's last building. Once he fails call the draw.

Roach bane all in vs terran: Drone to ~40-44 (2-4 zerglings + 3 queens to deal with early reaper/hellion), roach warren, make many roach, baneling nest around the time you finish your surge of 10-11 roaches. A move your roaches towards the terran. Make many zergling after your roaches. When your lings arrive make banelings. They should get there about the same time as your roaches. See what you can get done with just roaches before sending the banes in. Make sure your roaches are fighting any hellions and that your banelings don't get rekt. Use the banelings on any bunkers or anything getting repaired that will impede the roach destruction. The real killer to this strat is the big wave of lings that follow up. I'd say that you can get away with doing this all-in without taking a 3rd, but good players get a 3rd before making the big wave of roaches so it's up to you.

Zvz: 10 spawning pool, 10 gas, 10 overlord. 6 lings, queen, pull gas at 100 and get ling speed. Lings to 17 then overlord, then constant injects + lings. When your first 6 lings arrive try to harass drones but definitely don't lose any zerglings. When speed comes and your initial inject worth of zerglings arrive just overwhelm him if he tries to defend his natural.

Pvz: pull drones to thwart the cannon rush and then make zerg units and win.

Playing HotS for the first time in awhile and I swear that platinum is the new silver. Two games against plat Terrans on Iron Fortress:

g1: I scout CC first so I decide to make a lot of roaches and attack him, on like 33 drones on 2 bases, and I got a lair too for some reason. I assumed he would mech but he actually went bio but it didn't matter because despite my build being terrible and something I don't ever try he had like no army.

g2: different guy, I scout fast 3CC with banshees, super greedy, figure he'll go into mech so I make roaches while sporing up at home. My queens kill like 3 poorly/non-microed banshees, while I was making roaches his hellions just spent the whole time focus firing my empty 3rd and taking it to like 1/3 health, then roaches show up and he stupidly decides to transform into hellbats (lol, all the techs on fast 3CC) and fight instead of leaving. His hellbats all die, I march across (cross-spawns) with my roaches and he still has NO ARMY. LOL WTF. I run around his base for awhile, turns out he was going bio, kill some SCVs and building addons so he'll never get stim (lol) while making a spire at home and massing mutas. After he surrounds the roaches with SCVs and finally takes them down I attack with the mutas, running in a circle fighting marines with no stim and killing addons and CCs until he leaves. 0 turrets made that day too.

Just terrible, terrible players.

I stink at sc2. I have no desire to use any of the LOTV units because I feel like I'm not using them well.

Well if you're Zerg, lurkers are good but tricky to make use of. For Terran, I never see Cyclones, and maybe Liberators aren't nearly as OP against T and P. They win games against Z without much effort.

If you're Protoss and not building Adepts though, you're definitely doing it wrong. In fact, I'm pretty sure you can get to high Masters by building nothing BUT Adepts.

Yeah, I played one of those guys... Just rushed warp prism and warped in a bunch of those guys.

The most infuriating part is when the dude straight up ignores your army with his tanky-as-**** adepts and just kills 40 workers instead.

He knows he'll be able to Pylon Overcharge your all-in counterpush if you go that route, and if you don't, you're too far behind on workers to have any real chance at a macro comeback.

I've literally started walling off my main against Protoss as Zerg. I also overbuild queens. If the 12 adepts show up, they're only getting the workers in my natural. Queens take care of the prism.

Adepts are just a disgusting unit.

Maybe I should be investing early gas in burrow.

That's what's so ridiculous about them is the tankiness... They have 90 shield, 140 after upgrade (WTF?), and 90 health, making them beefier than ****ing zealots, for 100/25. That's just absurd even on paper. It's worse in practice. Seriously who designs this **** and is like, "Yep, seems about right"????

I think this game, from last night's Proleague day 1 season semifinals, broke my understanding of Starcraft. (spoiler on number of games, don't click yet if you plan on watching the series starting from g1)

Can someone explain to me why Terrans aren't including ghosts in their mech compositions to emp queens and vipers?

You should tweet at Innovation and ask him, so that he starts using them in his mech games against Byul and gets Terran nerfed after 4 embarrassing stomps.

After the GSL finals, Gom announced they're shutting down. GSL will be taken over by Afreeca, who will also be starting a new Brood War tournament.
