For sure. There are definitely elements of Moba's that will help him in the intermediate to advanced stages of sc. Checking the minimap, the importance of vision, learning power spikes, positioning, terrain advantages and a few other things probably.

At the very basic level though, a lot of that **** isn't going to help unfortunately. The biggest hurdle for new players I feel is learning the mechanics, and being able to do **** quickly and accurately while spreading focus around.

More Proleague match fixing from TL

Cliffs: betting drives MKP to an 8-1 dog against Byul (I think that's what the image says, I'm not an expert on the 247 different ways to write betting odds), and he loses one of the most embarrassing games in Proleague history. Byul built a proxy hatch and spine *in MKP's vision* and MKP went the rest of the game pretending he never looked at his minimap.



Reddit's thread is actually not AIDSy somehow and they bring up some good points about how agitated MKP seemed, and how at the point where his reaper sees the spine he's like "****, this wasn't supposed to happen, I was supposed to just play a greedy game and get blindsided by this so that it wouldn't seem like I threw it".

This is perhaps the most blatant of all the match fixing stories we've heard so far, I feel like Kespa has to do something here. MKP lifetime ban? bsball happiest SC2 fan NA?

Also, the Code A schedule is out, starts next Wednesday, and it's taking the WCS format of 24 best-of-5 matches between new qualifiers and Code S dropouts. Should be sick, I like that format a lot. Matchups are here.

Hot takes: can't tell from the image if reapers can jump from the base outside the main into the main (almost called it a 3rd but thinking about it as Zerg that might even be a 5th base) which would be stupid, 3rd base actually seems a little more reasonable than the Inferno Pools/Expedition Lost/Secret Spring distances we've had to deal with lately, probably will lead to a lot of quick games since especially ZvT holding 4 bases against boostivacs will be a nightmare. In particular, I think mech players will be able to combine this map's high ground with the nerfing of swarm host to get a 100% winrate vs Zerg on this map this season.

Of course, Blizzard's Hot Take on this map is just amazing:

Hot takes: this reminds me a lot of Foxtrot, in that you have a lot of narrow channels and ramps that will give wet dreams to all races that use the 'F' key a lot. Seems like the 4th base and onwards will be really susceptible to quick harass hitsquads as well if you play any of the races that can't simcity effectively. Should be a good mutalisk map too though.

Hot takes: I think I like this a lot initially. Holding the center watchtower and keeping scouts on flanks should keep you pretty protected and aware of what's going on. It doesn't appear like any particular spawning locations would put one race at a huge disadvantage against another. Good work, whoever made this!

Iron Fortress, aka that GSL map that got played like 3 times all season



Hot takes: with a 3rd base that's miles away, I definitely hate this map a lot, and what we saw from this map in GSL this season makes Blizzard's Hot Take really entertaining:

I don't think I saw a single game on this map in GSL where any race got above 3 bases. Which isn't to say that it didn't happen, but I do watch lots of GSL. Lol Blizzard.

cactus looks like a siege tank can hit 2 bases in almost any direction from the middle ramps

id say ~0% a reaper can get in that gap in map 1. id assume some void space in there along with a cliff

In other news of the "things we knew would be really stupid that turned out to definitely be really stupid" variety, I just watched Kaitlyn play her first LotV game. She got utterly destroyed by sieged tank drops. (and I mean, what are you supposed to do against that considering Zerg is defined by their lack of early-game anti-air?)

As a zerg how do you not insta make an extractor and get super fast ling speed?
