That and the fact that it's utterly pointless to enter a tournament if you're below masters league just to get crushed by anyone who has a clue what they're doing well ahead of the money (though in this case "the money" is top 32 so it might be within reach for a masters player if you run good with brackets). I imagine if you're masters-level within driving distance of Detroit (fwiw: according to nios.kr there are 1,727 masters+ accounts on the NA ladder, many of which probably belong to people who aren't physically in NA or are smurfs) it's worth going, otherwise probably isn't unless you're a pro/semipro or just want the experience of being able to say "I played Taeja and he utterly broke my soul".

- he almost kills me with a 4gate (had to cancel 3rd, lost all drones at natural)
- he apparently thinks he won and dances his zealots

- ragequitting to mutas killing all his sentries

It's a rare moment when your google search for someone's nickname (because they have post-game BM blocked on bnet) turns up as brilliant a gold mine as a twitch stream, but it's always a good day when it does happen.

my desktop is pretty old so i load way slower than most people, i assume, therefore i never have the chance to pm before block and its easily the biggest (rain) on a win. i didnt know gold players streamed tho

ok so he starts cannons (4?!) at his nat while pulling all probes, comments on how he lost all his probes (...?) then does not make a single cannon/stalker/(lolovercharge) on his 3rd even when he has ~500/500 and enough to fight.

Haha. I've never heard someone pronounce it "burr-eed" but it still doesn't seem like a huge logical leap to figure out what he's saying.

What was great about that gif was that I had run my large pack away from his ravens just before the gif. There were two mutas on the right side tagged and I wasn't sure if I was gonna get away so I peeled them off (they did get away, so the seekers got away). Then they aggroed on the ravens by themselves...so he seekers one. One muta, in a group of two. He was asking for me to make that gif.

Man, sometimes I just love Protoss so much.

Cross spawns on Nimbus, dude opens nexus first into 4 gates into double stargate. Does a big sentry-stalker attack on my 3rd, I'm getting roaches out in time and deflect it. I go into swarm hosts against his stargate play, he's making voids. I get creep far enough to start sending locusts at the 4th he's trying to take, he reacts like any Protoss would and FREAKS THE **** OUT and makes a beeline for my 3rd since he has no splash to deal with the locusts. He kills my 3rd (I have a 4th btw), loses his army to locusts/roach/hydra, has 5-6 voids left over, loses a few fighting queens and the rest flying back over the spores I had set up to keep observers away from my swarm hosts. Down 100 supply, he leaves.

ive yet to see a game where stargates work over spire. not really sure how he could lose to ground units tho

You mean the type of games that usually turn into muta-corruptor vs phoenix-void-some ground units? I feel like those are usually a little Toss-favored. Even so, going spire vs stargate can def get a little dicey - they can scout it and throw down 2 more stargates and your mutas are hard-countered, otherwise they'll start cranking out stalkers and phoenix when you attack and your best hope with the mutas, which isn't easy, is to furiously micro them to keep the Protoss at home while furiously macroing to get an econ advantage to set up a solid transition before your mutas are no longer any good against storm/archon/etc.

While it's a little counterintuitive - swarm hosts are ground, lolz how do they beat stargate - the point (as someone, bsball maybe?, brought up to me here when I was first having trouble vs stargate into fast 3rd) is that they have no splash damage on stargate tech, so they can't deal with locusts. They can force a base trade if they want I guess, but that goes very poorly for them once you pump out da queens/spores/hydras/whatever at home.

Also, bonus Protoss lolz from tonight:
- I drone scout gateway expand
- I poke lings in and see 3 gates at front, fully walled off on merry go round
- I make a couple spines and crank out lings to deal with the 4gate
- he brings his mothership core to the watchtower to kill my ling there, which is the universal sign for "I'D LIKE TO BRING OUT MY PROBE FOR PROXY PYLON NOW PLS", so I send all my lings out towards his base to try to find the probe
- find probe, kill it
- run up to his natural
- there are six unpowered gates at his wall
- he types gg and leaves

So I go into replay and...

not really phoenix but the void/tempest/mothership vs queen/corruptor/viper

seems toss cant really ever trade efficiently unless ur at low levels in which case i'd assume zerg is fkd
