a.) I had lost 4 bases and appeared to have no chance of ever getting any army
b.) bsball said "that's game" on Skype and left, so I assumed my teammates shared my hopelessness

you're both overestimating Incontrol and not giving spyte enough credit. Back when I was playing a ton of SC2 I never broke into GM but I've played games vs Incontrol, Catz, Drewbie etc. and took games off of them so for her to actually be able to get into GM says a lot about her abilities.

I mean she isn't bad. But she isn't pro level worthy, and really neither is Incontrol it's just at least he has some sort of record to show.

incontrols record has always been the laughingstock of the community, he has like what, $3K total winnings? and all that was early MLGs when he got luckboxed into seeded through winning against other NAs. Lets not get ahead of ourselves and say he is pro level either anymore.

Incontrol is, and for the last three years has been, around upper mid NA GM level. He's definitely better than spyte is now. The gap between rank 50 GM and rank 150 GM is huge. Bigger than 16 and 50 imo.

Played a few games tonight:
- ZvT vs a silver player, who winds up obviously not being silver - he's doing multi-pronged drops the entire game. His constant attacks are a bit of a thorn in my side but I eventually get up to ultras, kill off a couple attacks in a row, and he ggs. I tell him the guy who paid him to level up his account didn't get his money's worth. He is mad. After the game I see his APM is 378. LOLOLOLOLOLOL
- ZvP vs a gold, who goes nexus first into forge and basically loses the game in the first six minutes to the 6 lings that get into his main. It continues into a macro-ish game where he is on two bases for too long and then eventually takes a 3rd and tries to slowly build a deathball, which I throw roach-hydra at from a huge bank two or three times until it all dies.
- ZvZ vs a gold, obv I do the 10 pool speedling build. He drone scouts and goes pool first, doesn't build a hatchery, still loses. motherofgod.

But most importantly is the news that I discovered the keyboard backlighting on my new laptop is customizable. Behold:



So hawt, definitely increases my APM by ~30% (my average tonight was 101, which I think is higher than normal for me?).

I looked up this guy's profile, he does play with like 350+ APM in every legit game and then he intentionally quits half of them to keep his MMR stable. Feels so much better knowing he just wanted to beat up on silver league kids and I ruined his plans. I don't think I saw a loss in any of his games in the last week that weren't from him leaving in the first minute.

Backlit keyboards are nice.

I watched Sheth stream a game yesterday. He legit lost to a plat player. I mean outplayed lost. And in doing so I could swear he was playing actually worse than my average ZvT. How is that possible? Sure he quite for a while but he should be able to beat plats with mouse only.

Had a nice game ZvP today (against a diamond, too!) where I deflected an early dark templar attack with no damage, mass up some lings and roaches and counter at his 3rd. I kill it and retreat, he has void rays in the mix so I start massing up some hydras, go in for another attack a little later, forget if I kill his 3rd again or not but my hydras barely don't hold the void rays. Also he's now mixing in archons and mostly zealots and some templars for storm.

My instinct is to spam hydras to try to overcome the air, but I know the zealots and archons and storms will absolutely wreck roach/hydra so I use my brain for once and decide to make swarm hosts. I get my creep out, make a few spores to stop detection, and deflect his next attack pretty easily. Kill his 3rd (the one under his main on Polar Night), then shift over to the 4th and start sieging. He's gotten a mothership out to keep the locusts from doing damage, I make corruptors and a couple vipers and yank it + kill it, at that point he has no AOE to stop the swarm hosts and it's just a matter of time until he dies.

Then he tells me I'm not very good and to kill myself and he hopes my whole family dies of cancer.

I always forget how good queens are against void rays

Yeah I go mass queen SH against Protoss air now. Well I go roach hydra and bust the third first as goofy did. Usually I fail though. Macro not good enough, micro not good enough the reasons why since with good macro and micro you should basically kill P who has gone stargate 100% of the time at his 3rd around 13 mins in as long as you took no eco damage.

If anyone wants to watch me play a ZvT I briefly streamed one today while testing a different stream setup. Aside from typical lol_goofymacro I think it went pretty well.

I think my laptop microphone is kinda crappy though or my voice is too deep for it to be very clear on stream what I'm saying it's easier to stream w/o a headset but I may have to keep using it if I want anyone to understand me.

So your mineral bank problem is I think due to both taking (and mining) gas too late and just lack of mineral spending. Your injects are okay I think but spending could be better. What I mean by spending is if you have larvae and have money to morph it to something you generally should. Having a "larvae bank" is overrated imo, especially if you know what your opponent is doing.

11:10 when you drop your 3rd you still have a lot of minerals and larvae - things to consider here would be taking more extractors (def put 3 on the main gas instead of 1 at this point), two evos, or making a round of lings +1-2 overlords. Which I see now that you do, and shave off that mineral bank, gj.
If you look at an extractor that doesn't have drones mining it you should rectify that asap. I'm pretty sure that's what gives you such a gap between minerals and gas... Just overall mining gas too late. If you want to do a very ling heavy style you should make a macro hatch when you have ~1k minerals and 3 mining hatcheries. You can also shave some mineral bank by making a bit of static D around your exposed bases.
13:54 You need to anticipate the gas shortage and take the 5th and 6th gasses, if you need to just make 6 drones as soon as you drop the extractors that's not a big deal at all since you're already saturated and like to forget mining the gas once you make the extractors.

I think you should def have a macro hatch before taking a 4th base, esp with bank you have.

First engagement at ~16:40 goes okay but honestly I would've just feigned aggression while you morph more banelings to clean it up even easier. You have plenty of time to get a super decisive victory, and if you look at specifically where you engaged - you essentially fought him over nothing except a creep tumor haha. Just feign your army forward, make him burrow his widowmines early and then back up, morph a few more banes and spawn another round of lings. It's gonna take him a while to threaten your 4th with his widowmines burrowed that far away, so you have plenty of time. Also, when you engage bio like that, setup either a flank or just a wide fan-shape pattern with your ling bane, then just take your whole **** and right click past his bio, when you can get lings behind the marines so they can't leave, that's when you just a move + lol. You dont' want lings to be attacking marines in the face because you minimize the surface area and encourage derping from the units behind them.

Definitely spore the **** out of that 4th base asap, that base is every terrans wet dream to drop harass.

Creep spread is actually pretty reasonable but like me you gotta remember to replace the tumors in the center of the map from his first push.

When you're maxed and you already morphed ultralisks just make an unnecessary amound of banelings. He doesn't even have marauders yet, and doesn't know how to split marines so just make a stupid amount of banelings since you can afford them.

Cliffs:
Managing gas mining better will help alleviate your gas shortage/mineral surplus
Macro hatch
Buy yourself time by feigning your ling/bane ball towards him to force him to burrow his mines and then get re-setup while you morph more banelings/zerglings. Do this especially if you have good creep spread and he's not in range of any important objectives (ie a base).
Engage bio in such a way to maximize dps output of your army comp.
Be liberal with static D especially when you get up past 4 bases and are going to have to deal with multipronged harass.

Haha this is pure absent-mindedness. I probably went the whole game without realizing I had 1 guy there, I would usually go back to full mining on that extractor much earlier than 11 minutes.
