bsball was telling me how much playing vs the mass planetary/raven stuff tilts him so I was thinking about how magic boxing mutas would work against the seekers and did a test.

Although the one thing I've consistently done against seekers vs mutas is, if I don't run away fast enough to outrun them, I'll just move my muta ball in the midst of their ravens. If I go down, I'm taking you with me bitch. Ravens are pretty damn expensive, T will be on less bases than you, and production is limited by # of starports so even if you lose more resources by trading your muta army for his ravens, I think it works out better for the Zerg.

yeah thats always my counter to late spotted seekers. even better as terran if they dont have strong ground support. just stim under them and boom. medivacs are good too tho..

did you target the middle muta? does the direct hit not deal extra dmg? kinda weird that a) flock looks all alive and b) the right side got more hurt than the left

in other news, playing some unranked tonight, no idea how that matchmaking works, but g1 was on alterizem w.e v silver P, i scv scout cause map is f huge, see hes opened cannon wall, yes 3 cannons on top of his ramp, at the time i snap cancel reaper (1-2s left on it) and just double expo before making a unit. in hindsight if hes dumping cannons there, 1 reaper will win the game, but wheres the fun in that? he tries to mass vr's (doubt he broke 12) so game was way over, 6 base + 6 macro orbitals vs his 2... killed a couple hidden attempts off, but w.e

next game draw vT, dont even realize the game started cause starcraft kitty is full latched to my arm, lose way too much to cloak open, he tries meching and has the most withered turret ring ever. first loses his nat to 16 marines, then gets mad at me when he was "re enforcing his position" while i drop his main and refuses to leave until i kill his buildings. by the time im done berating him its mostly just a couple floating ones and since he had 4 vikings and tank/hellbat i made about 20 so i could just medivac drop until game was over.

he was top gold and actually had 99 apm (but was atrocious)

Should add a fun LOL_PROTOSS story - in the last game (don't want to talk about the first two), it looked pretty clear that I wasn't gonna hold my third so I evacuated all my drones and sacced it and built as many roaches as I could. He pushes into my natural but eventually pulls back and takes a third, as I also retake my third.

So, Protoss on three bases with equal timing to a Zerg, he should be in pretty ****ing good shape, yeah?

Streamed for four hours tonight and while Twitch stats says I had up to 2 viewers, I didn't see anyone in chat or my viewer list the whole time. h8 my life

On this subject, here's a relevant game I played tonight:

He opens with a marine-tank push and I (barely) hold it off with ling-bane, he transitions into mech. I had assumed he would stick with bio so I went up to mutas, try to hit his 3rd, he has a thor out and tons of turrets so I back off, my mutas can't do much. I figure this might be a good opportunity for swarm hosts.

.......and they do basically **** all. I try to siege his 3rd, he has enough tanks sieged there to basically keep my locusts from doing anything, I try to siege his 4th, he has tanks there too and my locusts still do nothing.

He gets up to raven-viking-tank-thor, seeker missiles crush my army, I wind up quitting with a 10k/5k bank because I have literally no idea what I can do to win.

eta, watching the replay: even more frustrating is that this game is basically a throw. His 3rd is super greedy, he takes it with a unit count of 1 thor, 7 hellbats, 1 marine; supply is 131-71 at this point, I have 64 drones to 44 SCVs. He takes a 4th when supply is like 190-120. At the same time, having the high ground w/ chokes on Yeonsu + lots of sieged tanks + defense vs mutas...idk what the **** I'm supposed to do against it.

edit. @goofy, dont know how many swarm hosts you had, but about 12 should be good enough to apply a little pressure and prevent him from moving out too much, in the meantime, teching to broodlord/corruptor/infestor with a few (2-3) vipers mixed in is imo best idea
mutas are good only when they leave some spots of their base undefended and you can sneak in while thors are somewhere else

watched replay. here are my comments

-when you drone scout, why don't you scout for gas? that's like the most important thing to scout for...
-when you crush (i think you crushed) his army) like that, you need to take a fourth and drone up immediately. you have 49 drones.
-you have a hive but don't get 2/3 (or 3/3), vipers, ultras, or a greater spire for way too long. this forces you to remax on roaches at a point in the game where roaches are no longer good units
-you still have 20 roaches sitting around doing nothing for a long part of the game. if you feel like your army is ineffective against his, that might be why.
-your engagement was bad, but you knew that already.
