lol i literally have not won vs protoss in at least 10 games. the ones i do win i either feel like they were lolbad or i played perfect. i had a really long QQ post written up but fk it not gonna whine.

all the while, i think i've lost one ZvZ or ZvT in the last 20 or so. at least thats how it feels right now. i just can't lose vs zerg or terran but i cannot for the life of me beat a protoss.

other way around for me. Against protoss i use 14 pool 16 hatch roach/hydra/broodlords and it really shreds face atleast on my lvl (top gold)

If you see MrBitter's stream online he's often coaching some guys doing that build against P, definitly worth checking out if you're struggling against protoss

every protoss i play seems to know the broodlord timing and i basically get rolled right as my greater spire is about to finish. i'm 2600 diamond. roach/hydra/corruptor is just so hard to balance correctly. you really need to get a good look at their army. i'm still not good w/ making specific ratios of units in my army. like if they have 6 colossi i need a butt ton of corruptors and i need a ton more roaches than hydras. but if they only have 3 i can make more hydras and less roach/corruptor. i dunno i find it extremely hard to balance my unit composition vs protoss.

i think one problem i have is that i don't kill observers so protoss knows exactly what i'm doing at all times. i need to either start making overseers or spreading out my tech buildings between my different bases. probably both.

I know protoss have observers somewhere on the map but can't work out where they are on the map for the life of me. I know its meant to be a little shimmer but I think I've only managed to spot one once in 500 odd games. Thank goodness I'm not terran and have to scan to get rid of them.

Just thought this was worth posting because everyone thought the ladder reset would coincide with the new patch.

One patrolling overseer and muta/corruptor will solve this. As terran I'm obsessive about killing observers using either turrets or ravens (don't like wasting scans early hurts my econ)

Pretty much this. In our game I had an observer letting me know when you were saturating your third and putting down your fourth. I also knew you were roach heavy so I pumped out 4 immortals and made a push before BL tech.

mutas work a lot better than BL/roach play imo

i think going mutas in ZvP is really risky and unsafe.

Muta play has a large window where you dont have enough mutas to hold off a protoss push.

You definitely can do this with any flying unit. Easiest way:

Repeatedly spam patrol at a single point until they're all there.

Beat: The damn game refuses to promote me from 4v4 silver despite the fact that I'm 44/19 overall, and have won 29 of my last 33 games after switching to zerg because mutaling is just so damn strong in 4v4.

He must have been pretty pissed he lost that scv. Game changer right there lol.

prolly silver >> diamond or so once your mmr settles at a certain point, if youre still crushing they dont kno where to seed you yet

Decided to play my 1v1 placement matches today. Didn't win a single one. Question: What level players do you play in placement matches?

Won my first bronze league match, though.

My opponent began the match by harassing me with reapers, doing some decent damage to my mineral line until I got more stalkers and later photon cannons. As the game went on I ammassed an army of zealots, sentries, stalkers, and collosi and expanded to two remote areas of the map. I ended up impatiently trying to push into his base with my army and, despite having an army value 4x his, losing almost everything and doing little damage to his army. He then pushes into my main, while I've set up another expo and have already built enough gateways and pylons outside my main not to care about it. I then just start warping in units to attack his now basically empty base and end up destroying everything but the command center, and kill his army easily.

Then he spends 15 minutes flying aorund the map with his command center, which I'm unable to find despite having units all over the map. I end up making a bunch of void rays and still couldn't find it. My opponent tells me he's willing to sit here and hide from my max supply army for 4 hours with nothing but a CC, and then leaves 10 minutes later.

That's kinda funny though lol. It's not like it's a draw, he's just waiting til he inevitably loses.

But I'm only playing 4v4 so that I can have 4 pretty diamond icons lined up, for 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, and 4v4.

I don't actually LIKE 4v4 all that much, and even if it wasn't ridiculously rude to your teammates, I wouldn't want to start throwing games without knowing where I stand. :/

It's kinda ridiculous that it waits until your MMR settles before promoting you at all. If you're *way* above the threshold for a level, it should just put you there, even if your mmr hasn't settled.

Am I being too much of an optimist for hoping that the ladder system will be completely revamped by the time the first expansion is released?

I think it actually tends to match you against other players doing their own placement matches, which is pretty silly imo, but I seem to recall seeing that very frequently.

What it *should* do is match you up against as wide a variety of players as possible, ideally preferring players where the system has a high level of confidence in the player's rating.

Pretty sure that's not what really happens though.
