Thread on reddit about MMR decay ******ation. Glad it's not just me tilting my ass off. With my 35-1 record. I am not Jaedong ffs. It's not fun for me. it's not fun for them. Soon I am going to be meeting only Diamond players in gold and we will be stuck forever.

To be fair, the IT nerf needed to happen. It was really stupid how much spammed ITs could completely turn a fight. It's just now in the context of all the other nerfs that have happened to infestors that it kinda sucks to have ITs be so worthless.

I think giving them upgrades back but nerfing their damage might be okay. The problem is that you only ever really see them in mid to late game when your opponent is on solid upgrades, and 2/2 or 3/3 anything vs 0/0 infested terrans is just a joke; the eggs die fast, if any hatch they die fast, they do nothing. If you at least give them the ability to soak up some damage first, even if they deal less damage themselves (because spamming ITs shouldn't be what a Zerg is relying on to make an army), that seems more fair.

Old IT's and new fungal was never tried. They nerfed eggs and upgrades. My suggestion is giving them upgrades back, keeping the eggs nerfed. It's still a nerf compared to WoL but it will make IT's relevant again. Zerg lost a vital tool. They didn't do a subtle nerf. They did the typical it's not working let's make it useless Blizzard nerf.

old ITs were ridiculous; fighting 3/3 bio with a maxxed army? why not throw in 50 free 3/3 "marines" also!

even lowering base dps and re adding upgrades would be feasible.

also re fungals, i think they have a lot more utility than being able to kill an entire army on their own, like they could before. still the only spell that freezes units, zones out ramps amazingly, etc

They were not free, they cost infestor energy, they were also temporary and slow as hell. Not quite as simple as saying they were a "free" 3/3 army. They are a unit that infestors can spawn, why would it be necessarily broken to have them be useful late game? Atm they are completely useless.

TL has a preview of some SC2 2.1 features, the most interesting part is that they're moving closer to F2P - starter edition will have all 3 races playable (currently only Terran is available, even if you do the spawning thing), and starter edition can also play arcade maps. So basically, the only things you won't be able to do in the starter edition is play the campaign or 1v1 ladder, I guess.

well they had no resource cost, so that sounds free to me. how often would a zerg just throw 50 it's at a protoss nat wall and kill literally every building and a decent amount of units? or be able to take a spellcaster (infestor) and allow it to snipe bases at no cost?

they aren't COMPLETELY useless; they can still tank, they can still shoot air, they are just not game changers. i also dont recall ever seeing them in the numbers you would before. not nearly as many games when a zerg has 20 infestors and decides to throw down more than a few. eggs still set off mines and waste tank shots, you can still block off stuff with them

overall seems like infestors utility got changed, people dont like its new direction, so without really spending time on it, they want it back to how it was.

No resource cost does not equal free. Infestors are 2 supply and it costs a huge amount of gas to tech to infestors heavily. They also have energy. That's not really "free". Actually free would be them just spawning whenever you want with no unit doing the spawning.

They are almost completely useless, and totally useless late game. The tanking is non existent almost now compared to before.

Your last paragraph is just strawmanning and not true at all.

Let's not forget ITs benefitted from missile upgrades so there was a separate upgrade that costs evo chamber time just for them to become better. So acting as if their upgrades went along the linear Zerg upgrade path is not really correct.

so locusts are not free? broodlings? mana regens, it doesnt cost you anything extra the 2nd time around, nor the 3rd, thats why not losing them is so key, just like medivacs or templar. it costs a lot of gas to tech to anything heavily, idk how thats different

its still there, still good vs mines/tanks. maybe they melt to collosus but so do real marines.

you say that, but how is "they lack purpose, lets undo this nerf first and go from there" not sound like the first step in what i said?

Locusts and broodlings are certainly more free in the sense that making broodlings or locusts now doesn't inhibit your ability to do so again later. Spending energy does. Storm isn't free damage, you use a few and then your templar are pretty useless for awhile.

Locusts are much more free as they don't cost energy. but they are not truly free because swarm hosts cost supply, that can't be made up in non supply units.

It doesn't because they took something that was perhaps OP (I don't think IT's were ever close to OP it was only fungal) and nerfed it so hard they are useless. OP> useless. Sound good? Why not just back that up and unnerf them in part. Not the full way, ie keep eggs the same, but make them at least somewhat useful again to improve the utility of the infestor overall.

Yeah, it's interesting to think about what SC2 would be like without them. TvT has produced some of the most epic games in SC2, and I think that's in no small part because it relies heavily on tactics/positioning and very little on spellcasters (yes, I know medivacs are "spellcasters", whatever). I guess with spellcasters you sometimes get THE SICKEST GAMES EVAR like MVP-Squirtle battlecruiser archon toilet, but more often you just get games where two people a-move into each other and whoever has the better feedbacking/sniping/force-fielding/fungaling/abducting over the span of 2 seconds just wins the game right there.
