Played a practice game on my work computer before leaving today, felt a little more in control but not enough to make a huge difference in my play imo. It isn't the mouse that makes me do all the terrible stuff I do, my micro not being as good as it could be isn't exactly the biggest obstacle for getting me to diamond.

Work computer did have a 4:3 monitor though which is god awful. idk why they can't zoom it out a little in 4:3 because it feels like I can't see ANYTHING compared to the widescreen on my laptop.

Your macro has to be worse than your micro at this point. If it's not, I don't know how you think you are going to get into diamond. Of course, low diamond is pretty bad also.

Playing on a laptop with a tiny screen and a trackball is why your progress feels capped. Screen size is actually fairly important.

My laptop has a 17" screen, 1920x1080.

I got to masters playing on a 15 inch laptop. I think the trackball would be more of a hinderance than the laptop.

Even if goofy sticks with his laptop/trackball setup, I think he still could improve a ton by working on his macro. Spending those minerals seems to be his biggest problem.

I thought this was standard with gaming laptops? I don't think I've ever owned a laptop with less than 17".

Yeah it`s standard for gaming laptops but it`s super tiny for Sc2, you cant even see the minmap properly then. I play on a 27"

Minimap vision is one of the few things I'm confident in saying I do well.

I'm not sure if most of the outrage itt is that goofytrackballer uses a trackball or if they are just butthurt that someone who uses a trackball is better than them at starcraft (obviously not everyone).

what usually happens is that if you play very early on in the season, you get put into a better than average group and the points you need to get top X in your league is higher because in general, people that play right away in a new season take the game more seriously/play a lot more. this is especially true in masters. i've been in leagues before where you needed >1600 to be top 8 and i've seen other leagues where 1st was <1500.

just an fyi for reference, if you're ~1800 you're gonna be playing with a lot of GM players and you don't really ever see anyone with >1900 in masters (they get promoted to GM before that).

Well there's a guy who is high masters with the xbox 360 controller who I am pretty sure everyone thinks is awesome. So I am fairly sure jealousy of goofy's magic thumb skills isn't the reason.

Tbh, I find myself not caring in the slightest lol. I haven't played in months and hardly watched either. The game is just not fun in either capacity for me anymore. I find LoL to be much more compelling to watch right now. I even decided to skip potentially going to Columbus in favor of flying to LA for the finals of LoL Worlds. That's how much I don't care about SC2 anymore.

I think they need to scrap the current WCS system and just use the 2012 version with some tweaks. Make it a WCG-like event and let MLG/NASL/GSL/etc run their independent leagues like before. WCS has been a huge cluster**** from the getgo, and it's definitely a large reason why I lost interest in the game.

SC2 at MLG is **** though, they tried saving money by lowering the prize pool, but it led to only b-tier koreans or maybe the odd a-tier paid by foreign teams coming over and that just made the whole thing utterly boring.

WCS is the same, just not enough talent in europe/na they are like best of the rest+a few koreans who went to get feeder scraps in ezland.

Code S is the only thing that is genuinely hype right now.
