brag: i did enough research that i now think i should never lose to this again
variance: i did the bratty little kid tactic of floating my buildings after the 2nd one cause i was so tilted

Yeah that pretty much sucks. I saw someone who would keep moving in on the pylons (or closest object) and would hit it a few times until his shields were just about out, then run away until the shields came back up, and then keep doing it. He ended up winning because of that.

I'm pretty sure it was someone on 2p2 and I'm thinking it was during the beta.

After the next patch there will be a timer in place if there isn't some kind of aggressive action after a certain period of time that will end up ending the game. I think it was mainly for the fact that Terran can lift their buildings and you can never kill them.

If this happens on Steppes, you should load 5 scvs in your CC and float to the corners with the destructible rocks. Have the rest of your SCVs harass/kite the drones while you liftoff, and send 1 scv to (hopefully) build a barracks in some random spot so you can get orbital up ASAP when you land. Disclaimer is I've never done this before but actually seems like a plausible backup plan which Day9 suggested =P.

wp, but I think you should get robo sooner and get more colossi. Also, the whole point of getting speed rays is to kill hatches and get out fast with minimal losses to max fast.

I'd volunteer to get worked, but I hate PvP too much to play it voluntarily.

Also, minecraft is a huge lifebeat, it's so addicting and I'm not even good at it. I can play it for hours and feel like I've accomplished nothing.

I've done the 12 drone rush a handful of times (probably something like 5 or 6) on the ladder, and just about every single person has lifted off to an island or behind some rocks.

Not a single one of them won. Starting out with a 5-7 worker disadvantage is just too much.

tbh I just think you need to micro well and put 2-4 SCVs on auto-repair... pulling back the damaged ones. Auto-repair > zerg regen.

Actually doing that is very hard. 1) it is near impossible to micro and if you do pull dmg'd scvs he'll just overwhelm your left over scv's with greater numbers 2) repair requires minerals which you will soon be out of when you stop mining

I think the best way to stop it is to scout the 12 drone rush and have your scv's meet them at the ramp where your depot + half finished barracks will be. This will negate him having more workers and hopefully give you time for the rax to finish.

Zeldark (sp?) did post reps where he got crushed by repair, although I think the way he let things happen was pretty bad. If you can get in any sort of choke, repair will win it for sure, as long as you cancel the barracks to have enough minerals. Just autocast repair with a few scvs in the back.

Easiest stop by far though is to just cut scvs and finish the walloff asap. If he's blocking with a drone, you may need to pull 3-4 scvs to kill it.

well the simplest way to stop it would be to wall off at the bottom of the ramp w/ a depot and a barracks. keep a couple SCV's near the wall to finish the barracks/repair the depot. of course the wall off at the bottom of the ramp has its disadvantages but i've seen people do it w/o even taking the 12 drone rush into consideration so how bad can it be if it means you're never gonna lose tot he drone rush?

Since they're changing the ramps so that a 2-pylon block won't be sufficient, I wouldn't be surprised if you needed more than a barracks+1 depot to block the bottom after the next patch. I dunno, it still might work, I haven't played on PTR at all, except for a few games against comps messing around with custom hotkey layouts.

There are also some pretty significant disadvantages to blocking the bottom rather than the top. The attackable surface area is a *lot* bigger, and I'm pretty sure roaches will be able to attack the wall without taking return fire if you wall the bottom.

I'm surprised you haven't seen it either. It's by far the strongest cheese zerg have available to them right now (WAY stronger than 6-7pool, which cheesy zergs do all the time), although it really only works against terran.

I posted this in another thread after I was drone rushed the first time, but I imagine you'd have to have pretty damn good micro skills to beat a 12 drone rush with just micro (and not using chokes, etc.). I'm only a silver level Terran player and basically 12 drone rush = GG for me if I don't scout it.

It's just infinitely easier to control attacking drones vs SCVs than to micro your SCVs that are under attack. Also, if the drone rush catches you off guard I'd imagine most average players are just totally ****ed.

Like TNixon said it's a really, really strong cheese. I honestly don't even know how to defend against it without seeing it during scouting. I rush my wall in vs Zerg if I say something to start the game and they don't respond.

tbh i think you just need to anticipate a drone rush on maps where it works... and scout early

i think ill be sending my depot scv on steppes and blistering sands to scout from now on (thus very early)... either that or send an scv out as soon as the rax goes down and be mentally prepared to either a) bring up scvs to block off the ramp and have others behind auto repairing or b) block it with an extra depot.
