Experimenting with infestors and it's going pretty terribly. Terran just picks up and runs away from engagements they don't want to take and my infestors are always behind my lings so I can't stop them (and even if I could fungal is so much weaker now). I'm much worse at stopping drops and my attention gets split way too easily.

Just can't win. :/

eta: forgot to add, nothing stopping Terran from going super marauder heavy against my ling-ultra army at that point either

realized today that I'll probably watch Starcraft late into my life... the idea of what it may be like in 10 or 15 years is pretty exciting

The stuff you see in 2on2 is amazing.

My ally had like 25 corrupters there was a banshee and a raven clearing creep on the map. He flew to them, attacked them and just before dying the raven fired it`s seekermissle. It`s not a big deal, but that guy just clumped all his corrupters Vikingflowerstyle and EVERY corrupter was down to like 5 HP. The genius he is ,he morphed most of them to broodlords(Right where he was standing, in the middle of the ****in map).

Guy basically threatens to kill you and pushes you aside when you call him out on it. The lesson to learn from this is that you need to troll a lot harder next time.

Its not different in other games. The thing is, I am 26, a lot of you I am sure are well into your 20's maybe even 30's? The people we are playing are 13-15 years old A LOT.

I'll wait till I get a game where my mechanics aren't terrible, but yeah seeing others' replays might help too.

i dont think infestors are all that bad, they just arent as ridiculously op as before. they're still only unit that can stop something and thats a huge advantage as zerg. even if they split well it makes surrounds so much easier and chain fungal is still game ending if you get 1 good one to start.

since you seem to have so much $$ late game, why not add a bl switch if they get too marauder heavy? even if you lose your ultras they will have to pull back, and ultra bl is still good since they will basically never have to correct production up before you do

Maybe. The pessimist in me says that by that point in the game they have like 15 raxes up and that while the switch prob takes them by surprise and I kill a base or two, soon they're remaxed on marines and add a couple starports' worth of vikings and then my super expensive BLs all die and that's the game-ending move for them.

This is so bad I'm thinking about switching to Protoss.

yeah i mean you dont have to go for a kill with bls, but while they are switching you can kill a base or 2 and remax ultras as well. every time im again surprised how useless marines are vs 5/3 ultras.

been considering changing races too just cause i think tvt got really stupid atm.

just build a load of swarm hosts and nydus to stop them taking expos

we're both 1400 masters. you can see i controlled the first fight terribly and still managed to hold by simply making a bunch of units. i did control well at the end with a manual detonation on a baneling and sending 2 lings forward that got a mine shot to kill some of his marines. then i spore up the edges of my bases while teching and upgrading. when i see a double drop coming i just send my lings one way and infestors the other way and stop it easily. he cancels my 4th but i know his 3rd is late because i had OL's pooping creep. then i just go for the kill when i max out. i even forgot 3/3 this game and my ultra cavern was way late. again i did not control well at all the final fight but infestor/ultra/bane is quite strong and he had a bunch of supply tied up in the counter drops which i held w/ reinforcements (i saw them coming and could have held easily but i needed to attack before his 3rd base really kicked in and i was maxed so couldn't make reinforcing units).

the main reason i won this game was that he sacrificed fast upgrades to try that early attack and i held. from there i didn't take damage from drops and just maxed out and essentially a-move ftw.

Watching in first-person cam, writing stuff down as it occurs to me...

- ~6:30 third base - is this something you do by feel? You had no scouting info since your initial drone scout, are you just figuring that's a safe time to expand since no 1-base all in in history starts off with two reapers?
- Your initial creep spread is really good but after his first attack you don't really rebuild queens for awhile, and your lack of creep spread towards the 4th makes it difficult for you to take - is that something you struggle with a lot (getting creep going again once Terran scans and kills some and takes queens out)? I sure as hell do.
- 17:00, you have 4 spores at your 3rd, just a couple in the main (which would still allow a drop at the edge), and basically no vision on the south side of the map - are you worried about getting hit? I feel like even when I have spores set up like yours at the 3rd I get burned sometimes by Terran being like LOL BOOST and just going over them, and having to turn my army back to defend against that sort of thing and then have my attention split by another attack somewhere else is something I'm donstantly worried about in this matchup.
- 18:30 - ok, my last comment is looking prophetic, now we have dual drops at 3rd and 4th and you're going full steam ahead towards his base - are you basically thinking base trade at this point? And omg those widow mine hits

my third base timing is mainly about the queens pushing whatever units terran made (either reaper or hellion) back far enough for me to get my drone out there. once i have creep out in front of my natural i feel very safe with the 2 extra queens. if they come at me w/ a 1 base push i could die to it but no one really ever does that. plus i can always pull my other queens to help hold the push and 4 queens do a lot to help hold vs 1 base pushes. basically they're good vs hellions and un-upgraded bio.

and i probably could have re-made the queens but i don't usually face that type of attack so early on. usually terrans go 3cc and double ebay upgrades so i normally don't lose those queens at all.

and yes split attack can be hard to defend but i think that's true even if you go muta. in that specific game i wanted to end w my first wave of ultras because i had such a good read on how late his 3rd was. if i turned around to defend the drops then his 3rd would kick in and i'd be facing a much larger army. ideally i would have taken my lings and split them into 3 groups. 1 for the push and the other 2 to stop each drop but i'm not that good lol. you see i did end up cleaning up the drops with my reinforcements after i lost the lings and got back under 200 supply. and yes the medivacs can boost over and not die but they will be low so if you just have a queen attack it that usually kills the medivac.
