we are losing against people we're favored against every game. we've played plenty of people better than us (and lose more than win obv) but we're losing to platinum idiots. ughhh ****ing cheese every game ****ing TILTING

Aren't you supposed to cheese every game in 2v2? I think I'd rather play custom games with my friends instead on 2v2s; you know, so that we could stay friends instead of getting life-tilted at each other.

heh...i mean, there is a fair amount of cheese (particularly double terran marine pumping cheese) but we can usually beat it.

i'd say 3v3/4v4 is like cheese every game.

It's not cheese, it's standard play in team games. If all 4 players have the exact same army, 2 joined armies will rape 1 army with minimal losses, so they're able to steamroll the 2nd army after that too. That's why offense is stronger than defense as defending effectively is harder because of the spread. In 1v1 it's the opposite (in early game anyway).

For 2v2 my buddy and I have been cannon/bunkering ourselves in early and then FE'ing. We vetoed maps so we get maps with no destructible rocks or maps where it is easy to defend the naturals. Doesn't always guarantee a win but it definitely makes team games a lot more fun to play when you aren't trying to guess which sort of all in you have to be ready for.

I mean, I obviously understand the concept of 2 joint armies > 1, and we almost always know it's coming because we scout well. I guess we're both just playing poorly during this stretch. Dammit, we were so close to our #1 spot in our pool, sigh...

edit: I guess we should just open with like a ten pool/2 gate push or something to prevent us from getting early pushed.

Unpossible. On a related note, I just watched NYD play the first 8 mins of a ladder game in first person view (he said it was too tough after that & zoomed out).

Probably possible. As soon as you have a rally point on your mineral patches you can use hotkeys to macro, and just do something like DT rush so you can A-move on the minimap and hope your opponent sucks.

Fwiw Grind, he's playing terran, but anyways, I don't think its unpossible. The qualification matches are ridiculously lol.

My friends and I (at least as of 3-4 weeks ago before I had to go into finals mode) have a top 50 3v3 team on the NA ladder.

We've cheesed like... 3 times ever. We don't cheese, and if we get cheesed it's like an instant win. It's pretty easy to deal with. Like even if a team that is ZZT has the 2 zergs both 6 pool and knock one of our team members out, we are still winning 80-90% of the time.

Just as I predicted my losing streak is now here. Just lost 5 games in a row after winning about 18 out of 20 games this past weekend. Thanks for the swongs b.net!

Well my losing streak is now up to 10. I'm guessing tilt is playing a role in it now. Time to go 12 drone rush in FFA for a while to make myself feel better.

Decided that it's time to finally just play 4v4 random to get my diamond. Today I got it after playing about 4 hours. I started today with 2 games left on my placement. A few notes:

-Achieving diamond with 4v4 on your own (random team) is much easier than getting it with a set team...at least it seemed that way. My highest set team was with 3 other friends, all of whom are fairly competent. While our win rate was better overall in my set team, we have a shitton of games and are still platinum. I played probably 15sh games today and got diamond, with a record of 16-11.

-Of these 15 games, I played with at least one friend on my team...so my team wasn't FULLY random. I played a few with 2 friends as well, so it was us 3 and one random...probably helped alot.

-some of the people paired with me were ****ing terrible. It's so frustrating playing with unresponsive people who don't even acknowledge your chat.

-So much cheese involved. Everyone is insta 6-10 pooling, everyone will just marine pump/cannon rush/etc. Crazy.

dear lord i just got crushed.
first game went for mmm drop, ran into viking on way to drop, lost medivac, that pretty much killed me

second game, went 3 rax, never played the map before, didn't realize ground distance was about 55 second base to base (steppes is like 30 seconds) lost. If I could have got to his base 20 seconds earlier, may have won.

Orange qft ive yet to make diamond with a set team but got diamond in random 3v3 and 4v4 in ~20 games

I'd never bet against King Kirbynator.
