I know for sure. You can completely tank your unranked MMR back to silver if you wanted and battle your way back up the ladder. I think I'm going to do that today and start learning the terrans.

Unranked makes literally zero sense. On a daily basis I will play diamonds and bronzes in the same session (and they'll be playing ranked, which means their MMRs are falling into a massive range).

when i played, i tried to keep my unranked mmr at a gold/plat level while my ranked mmr was masters

makes for easier warm up games and lets me screw around with off racing

Tanking my unranked MMR down to bronze league tonight while sleeping so I can start learning some terran time.

Platinum players giving unsolicited advice is a cute concept.

Assuming someones knowledge of the game is tied to their rank is a cute concept too.

even if it is tied to their rank, there's no reason someone can't give actual advice to someone if they're both at lower levels.

I view these very similarly- you guys aren't friends and you don't know each other. I don't think the fact that you just played a game against each other matters- in fact, it often exacerbates the problem since everyone hates losing. If he messaged you and was like "hey man, gg" and you responded, and then he said "you mind if i tell you why i think i beat you?" then it'd be totally different.

Maybe I'm the weird one. I just think messaging someone out of the blue and saying "dude you needed spores", while potentially helpful, is mean.

This is coming from someone who is the biggest proponent out there that people need to stop being so sensitive/defensive about things they need improvement with, so it's not just me being "like that", either.

I've definitely been that douche at the gym.
