do people find when opponent doesnt reply to gl hf at start of game they cheese close to 100%? its the biggest starcraft tell ive found

About mutas, its mostly the infestor change that gave them a huge boost, because now it's so much easier to dodge fungals that you can't rely on them as your only anti-air. Hydras and infestors together do fine, but neither one by themselves is really that good at defending. So you really need both.

The problem is that you really need 3 bases in order to do that comfortably, and it's incredibly hard to establish one against a muta player without those units. Before, you would secure your 3rd behind hydras or more commonly infestors, but now you can't really do that. Also the problem of even being able to push out. Ironically, it's basically the situation that protoss find themselves in vs mutas in PvZ. No real great gameplan exists since you can't really attack or expand or turtle very well. You basically just hope they **** up, and that's an awful way to play.

FishtermerService was theorycrafting with me today after a game on his stream where he went mass widow mine against Protoss with a raven and a few vikings to kill observers. Toss built 0 cannons until like ten minutes after he started showing this composition. He decimated P's worker lines and barely held off a counterattack where P went around the mines with his army to T's bases (third and nat got taken out but whole army eventually died to mines), and at that point the game was over cause P couldn't clear out mines in his base anymore.

Based on this, FS has concluded that mass widow mine supported by ravens/vikings/hellbats is an unbeatable composition. Thoughts?

It's not unbeatable. It's pretty hard to scout by the time it gets to you. Also, if I force my opponent to go mass cannon and I eco behind it, I feel like that alone is a small victory. Widow mines can contain a player for a very long time, also do a 8 widow mine drop in a mineral line and see just how well those 1-2-3 cannons are going to do. Will stil decimate a worker line.

Protoss can build all the cannons he wants in his base. I still can deny his third for a VERY VERY long time. Also during all this time, protoss can not even think about attacking. Not only will his army of coli/stalker/zealot be decimated by a hellbat/mass mine/ raven/ viking composition.

Expand behind all of this aggression , start teching up into whatever it is you want.

I am standing behind my idea that this build has potential to be VERY strong. Maybe you shouldn't over commit on widow mines...but just the fact that your opponent will be EXTREMELY caught off guard this early in the metagame is a huge victory imo.

I think obviously it has to be tweaked, but I wouldn't be surprised to see something like this make an appearance somewhere.

also, lots of ravens for PDD drones against cannons...run mass mines into p's army/mineral line with hellbat support. Idk just seems like it's a pretty tough thing to defend against this early in hots only because no one has faced anything like that. I would love to see it make an appearance until people figure out how to truly scout it and prepare.

Also, Bryan, Don't be mad that I'm winning in diamond going mass widow mine clownin on kids and still winning while you are try harding in platinum, unable to advance to diamond.

Fwiw, im 3-4 right now in diamond going mass widow mines. 2 of the games, I literally ONLY build widow mines. No ravens, no vikings, JUST widow mines.

The 1 loss I should have won. I killed 65 zerg workers, and lost to a few brood lords. I just played poorly, had a huge bank behind me, didn't have any production buildings behind my mass widow mines. I was on 4 bases, just couldn't get production up fast enough and ultimately cost me the game. It was pretty sad.

afaik FS has played like 300 games of SC2 this season, just to put this in context

Btw, there's pretty much no difference between plat and low diamond, so it's not really a brag to be there. Nor is it bragworthy to have to rely on overpowered stuff to even get there lol.

My MMR was 1850 today, I purposely lost so I didn't get placed any higher, because I still feel like my play isn't up to par. I have a lot of fundamentals to work on , but have had just fine success in diamond.

Also, goofy isn't high platinum. I believe he told me his mmr was 1250 or 1350.....mid plat. And trust me, when it's between real life friends, it's a brag.

I guess that's a pretty sick brag for someone to fall back on when they can't beat me 1v1 which most ppl would consider to be the brag that actually matters

Also I would totally prop bet that if FS had to play 50 games without making a widow mine or doing a single hellbat drop (you can still use OP boosters) he would be back in platinum. HOTS: RISE OF THE PATCHTERRAN
