Ret lost the first game and at the start of the second game he paused to ask the admins about his chances of advancement. The pause went on for a few minutes while they decided. He then went ling/baneling all-in and made some questionable decisions with continuously throwing his units against forcefields instead of possibly more useful things, e.g. killing the third base. After losing all his units, and when it was clear that NightEnd had held the all-in, Ret expanded 5 times and continuously made only lings and banelings.

During this entire time nobody really knew that this game meant absolutely nothing because Dreamhack's tie-break rules meant that NaNiwa was advancing no matter what. Apollo had erroneously announced that if NightEnd won the 2nd game then he would advance instead of NaNiwa.

I got a smurf account for $20 in last weekend's sale and am now beating up on noobs in practice league for my own amusement, studying such epic strategies as "rushing reaper speed" and "the 4 warpgate warp prism rush"

I haven't played on my main account in over a week (though having ****ty internet over thanksgiving had a lot to do with that).

I think Terran is pretty optimal for practice league, Toss just has one effective cheese on those maps (warp prisms, though blink stalkers w/ observer would work too I guess), and Zerg doesn't have anything until mutas, whereas Terran has reapers, hellion drops, and cloaked banshees. Hell, you can hit with all three cheeses in the same game! I did two against this poor Protoss last night, my reaper micro was pretty bad (still prob got 10 workers with reapers) but he was totally unprepared for banshees and his workers got wreckkkked.

Is practice league still played in less than Fastest mode? If so, how can you deal with that? When SC2 first released I thought it would be fun to beat up on practice league players...that lasted about 1 match when I couldn't deal with how slow it was.

Haha yeah it's at normal speed. It's kind of unbearable but also a little relaxing when the game moves at such a slow pace.

lol, pretty sure I just beat up on someone else's smurf. I beat him on Novice Steppes of War TvZ (he was random), then he was like "I hate zerg, rematch?" so we played TvP on same map and I won again, then he must have been really mad cause he made a game on Xel'Naga Caverns on faster speed...and still lost ldo. He was kinda bad though so maybe not. Either way lulz were had.
