Why are they nerfing zerg? Was the latest a move centric protoss build not working anymore?

Apparently, terran shouldn't have to bother trying to use ghosts and protoss want free mothership wins if their 2 base immortal pushes dont free win.

Obviously if they implement this, there's no reason they can't pick and choose which specific units can and can't be fungaled. Or they could make up another category of units called spellcasters, group them in addition to the broader category of psionic, and then have fungal only be ineffective against spellcasters (this is necessary because otherwise snipe damage would be changed across the board).

Of course, blizzard will probably not do this because they don't want to make the game "too confusing for anyone to pick up and play", so yeah.

Apparently ravens are not categorized as psionic units, nor are overseers or phoenix (or thors!). The psionic category seems pretty bizarre.

Fwiw, when I tested it, it appeared that the units were only immune to the root part. But I'm not sure if that's what's supposed to happen because the map has a bunch of other weird stuff on it that it might be bugged.

After toss go 123 at the latest tournament this seems stupid. I get helping terran but the boon this has for toss is dumb.

so basically fungal would be useless vs half the protoss units. whoever's being paid to come up with this stuff is really not earning his money


raven buff seems fine I think, and that would probably be enough. if anything look to make some small changes to the infested terran, but looking to nerf fungal just seems like someone over at blizzard went:


"well everyone is QQ-ing about one of the infestor spells, so let's nerf the infestor".
They sent that report up the chain and the person reading it thought to himself:
"well, a lot of people ARE qq-ing about infestors, let's go ahead and nerf one of their spells." He then flipped a coin and decided to nerf FG

Either way they'll probably take it back but implement some lesser nerf even though this seems to be decently well received on various forums. (The protoss part anyway, T still crying as always)

Why does Toss need anything?

I have no idea, I don't play enough to know the current state of affairs beyond my occasional forum reading. Seems like the PvZ match up has gotten pretty stale tho. All in or lose to bl/infestor. So if they can find a way to make the late game actually playable maybe that is a good thing.

Why anyone wants to be in a spot where it's optimal to make >20 infestors I don't know. That's boring.

theres some pretty sick 3 base pre BL timings that are coming out right now. I think they should wait before nerfing up zerg to help protoss.

doesnt effect me though, all i see is sentry/immortal allin, literally 100% of my zvp's

as someone who religiously follows the SC state of the game, i think it's less that the infestor is way OP (although it is slightly OP) and more that, just like always, the ZvP matchup itself is terrible due to the fact that during different time windows, one race or the other almost always has a massive advantage.

But as to the infestor, Zergs have sort of closed the pre broodlord advantage protoss players used to have by just massing infestors and spines, making them virtually killable before broods come out, for the most part. these infestors then keep their value the entire game (unlike the stalker colossus/immortal army which gradually loses effectiveness when zerg switches to its mass air/infestor/spine army), which also pisses off protoss players, because to them (and it may be true), infestors are the counter to everything in the protoss army.

one of the reasons is they haven't realized that the mothership actually has 2 spells.

slow ass broodlords can be used in an offensive consistently and succesfully bc you have a lot of them and can remake them from corrupters already present at the battle in the best case scenario. you only get one mothership at a time and takes a ****ton to build and a ****ton to mass energy and costs a lot and it's slow as ass so you better make sure u don't lose it. essentially a mothership push is allin at least to some extent.

most PvZ mothership games that i've seen P lose are them attacking into zerg, getting m-ship neural'd/sniped before even letting off one vortex or w/one but badly placed etc.


haven't really seen seen toss try to counter/harrass with a semi-large blink stalker force when zerg is moving out (keeping minimal defensive units home), snap take out two bases then recall back to base while let's say also warp prism dropping (minimum micro necessary) the furthest away base (zerg will likely be on 4) with 10-12 throwaway chargelots.

they decide to commit you can recall anyway or try to come from behind snipe some BL then blink back/rinse repeat or just recall if you get tarped.

I scout a terran going CC first into 1rax into 3rd cc with double gas, so of course I just make roaches and lings and a-move. He lifts up all his buildings and comes into my main and starts counting my drones and talking about how bad I am.

Then a Protoss player's probe crosses my drone path but doesn't come into my main, and I scout a 13 forge, so obviously he is cannon rushing me somewhere. He actually manages to trap a bunch of my drones in with his cannon, but he doesn't notice that i have a drone making a hatchery in his main. he was pretty mad
