i really don't understand how its possible to average >200.

The thing is you're lying to yourself - I see it all the time, play a 10 minute game with someone and their average APM after is 150 and i'm like wtf... but it's like 300apm for the first two minutes and then it crashes to <100 when any action starts, while mine stays low the first few minutes and then peaks to >100 but apparently they average more than me...


Really you want to look at your peak APM and your sustained apm, average apm over a whole game is mostly BS.

yes but you can definitely compare your own APM as you improve. i was consistently at ~60APM a few weeks ago so clearly i've made a drastic improvement.

im ~2000 diamond rating terran that just got beat by 3rax plat and 4gate/robo plat player

after those 2 games i beat ~2100 terran and ~2050 toss. That platinum terran was like 10-1 but toss was 11-6

Maybe you played against the same 4gating protoss I played X_X. It was a pretty funny game, I was down to 0SCVs and 2 MULEs against his 4gate push, but I had hero banshees with 19 kills, 10 kills +others that got him down to 7 probes.

How often do you guys feel like you make one huge mistake (get supply blocked in a tense situation, forget a key upgrade, etc) that should cost you the game but still manage to pull out a win? I feel like I've gotten myself out of so many bad situations where I should have clearly lost and clawed my way back into the game.

I tend to do the opposite, put myself in a dominating position and proceed to lose.

As I play a MMM heavy strategy, there aren't a lot of tactics where I can claw back. The few times I have its been using a massive drop that just wipes out an opponents main.

Actually upon further review I had one last night. Steppes TvT, I went 3 rax, he went siege tank. He held initial push, I decided to just keep hitting him with one base MM, I think I got up to 5 or 6 rax. We kept trading but I think he had the upper hand as he took his natural and had several tanks sieged up at his natural ramp. as my mins were starting to get low, I pushed with 20-30 SCVs and my army. SCVs took brunt of tank damage and army killed tanks and expansion. Got into main and started taking down production structures and he GG'd. My army was down to 6-7 MM all with half health. If he pulled SCVs it could have been interesting.

Nope, I just lose T.T

It kinda happens to me a little more than I'd like lol. I'll get supply blocked at a crucial time, so I can't engage head-on or I'll get roflstomped. So it inspires a little creativity - whether it's slamming down 4 spinecrawlers, dancing around his army with my faster one while not engaging/allow him to advance to buy time, or going for a counter attack. Or that other fun situation where you're pooling supply, larva and resources for your mutas. Can't figure out why it's taking so long for the spire. Oh he's moving out. Where's my spire? Oh...never started it...1+s+rzrzrzrrzzrrzrzzzzrzrzrzrz.

There was one game I played a while ago on scrap station ZvT where I was going ling/bane/roach vs his bioball. I was on 3 bases to his two, but there hadn't been much harassment either way. I hadn't morphed banelings yet since I had vision /w the xel'naga and I sent one of my initial overlords to check on the rocks. Unfortunately I never bothered to replace him when he got shot down a few minutes into the game. I saw his bioball at my rocks with about half health left. Select all lings and hold down e. Not going to be done anywhere close to in time. Select all overlords (luckily I had speed upgraded) and sent them to his base, in such a way that he'd see them going past his army. He retreats, shoots down a few ovies, I roll in with my ballin' army and explode all over his face ftw.
